M15x Order Status Discussion

Ugh. I ordered mine at the MOST inopportune time. I placed the order on September 1st which was a Wednesday. Then the weekend was bad enough because I'm assuming they don't build or ship on weekends, and the LABOR DAY had to come along on Monday delaying it further. I'm going crazy waiting for the email telling me that it's been shipped.

P.S. Labor should be mandatory on Labor Day.

My M15X was shipped last Friday, so I've been pretty anxious like most people. I came home today and my better half said she got an automated phone call stating "my laptop would arrive Thursday between 9-5).

This is REALLY unusual as none of my other purchases 4 years piror with Dell had automated calls like this? She wasn't sure if it was Dell or Purolator. If it was Purolator I was rather surprised they KNEW what I bought and if it was Dell I was surprised they'd give schedules for their customers that relied to be honored by another company.

So should I really expect the phone call to be accurate?

 

For mine Purolator phoned the day before it arrived and said make sure someones home to sign for it. And yep it was accurate in that it did arrive the next day.

EDD 23rd! Haggled my way to a really good deal over the phone too.

 

YES! It just shipped! I have NBD shipping so hopefully whoever is the carrier does Saturday deliveries...although by definition NBD would mean that they don't...dang...well I can always hope I guess. I'm just glad it shipped.

 

My M15x is listed as shipped!

DHL says they estimate delivery by the 22nd though :S

 

I ordered my on the 21st this month.. its still being constructed according to the dell website.... but the estimated date for delivery is 3rd of NOV.... which is 40days of waiting.. is that normal??

ordered the M15x with the i5 and 5850 and still in production is this normal,

 

spoke to a dell rep today said that everything is on time and should be delivered at least 2 to 3 weeks before edd mine is still in production though and this is te last update i received from them hopefully our new better halfs should be here soon

 

Mine just updated to delivery preparation hells yeah

 

I got mine two weeks before EDD. I was thrilled to say the least when UPS dropped off that gigantic box.

 

mine has been in transit for 5 days now stupid purolator

I ordered mine in August and it still hasn't arrived yet.

also there is a prob with the dell website if your order has shipped it wont show it on the website for a good 2 days its best to check your email also give dell a call and ask them for detailed info

 

Mine order said to be delivered on 23rd Oct. Hurray!!! Its coming from CA

I'm a switcher... pretty much sums it up. I had a Studio XPS 1645, but at our company we were having some really bad issues with throttling and overheating. So my Dell Rep (I have a business account!) is replacing my XPS 16 with a Alienware Mx15 with the following specs:

500 gig HDD (I have a SDD to put in it)

The build just showed up on my account last night with the status of in production. My dell rep told me it could be less then a week, maybe 2 weeks, or at the worst a month! ;(

I have next day priority shipping with my warranty, but at the moment still says in production. I envy those who at least have a date/idea of when theirs is arriving!

 

Dell just delayed mine by another week. I was told at the time I ordered this that none of the parts were backordered, everything was in stock, and that I would very likely get my laptop well before the EDD.

My first call to Dell today yielded:

- Customer care is unable to tell me why the laptop was delayed (they didn't know if it was a backordered part, or anything)
- They agreed to upgrade my shipping to NBD for free



My second call to Dell (after seeing that the shipping hadn't been updated) yielded:

- The reason it wasn't upgraded is because the laptop is already marked as "shipping complete."
- They told me that they would do everything they could reasonably do to get it on a "priority track" because it's a high value item
- They weren't able to tell me where the laptop was shipping from, nor which carrier would be delivering it until the tracking number was posted




My experience with the first laptop I ordered from Dell (a Studio 15) was that their shipping is usually pretty conservative and it will arrive a few days before teh EDD anyway.

 

Phone call from Dell on 10/24/10: A representative called to tell me that the "shipping is complete for your order."

Dell's website still shows the laptop as being in Delivery Preparation.

 

A couple of my Alienware's didn't show as shipped until the night before it got there, I'm in UT you're in CO so I'm guessing it's probably the same story.

 

NBR needs some fist-shaking emoticons.

Did your machines all ship from the same place?

I have a issue now. Was told by my Dell rep that my M15x would ship this Friday... sadly my wife wants us to go out of town to her brothers Weekend Halloween party.... which to me.. is going to be boring, because I don't know anyone!

I have next day shipping, so it's possible it will arrive on the following day, Saturday....

Any ideas on how to get out of this trip, and stay home and await my baby?????

 

Received an email from Dell at 11:29pm that my order has finally shipped from Industry, CA and should arrive Thursday or Friday.

17-18 days of complete turnaround time sucks.

 

wow Aracheon, that's insane, I placed mine Oct 20th, and on the site it said Turn around time 11/5/10, I contacted my dell rep because I had no EDD being shown, he said it shows it will be shipping this Friday on the 29th.

 

More or less what annoys me is that Dell is slow to update the order status page, calling the automated system is often quicker, and that the customer service reps have very limited access to information.

If a part had been backordered or something similar and I had been provided that information ahead of time or during my inquiries, it probably would have made the wait a little more tolerable. It sure doesn't help that I'm impatient to begin with.

 

I placed my order through work about 9 days ago. As of this morning, status is in production, with an EDD of 2/12/10, which really sucks. I was hoping to have my machine be the end of October, but looks more like the middle to late November. I'm hoping that the EDD is way wrong at this point in time.

 

Hmmmm I got this in my email this morning....

"Kevin,

System is in transit to Nashville and should be delivered by Friday. Once in Nashville system will have one day of processing before shipping to your address. Have a great day."

So does that mean it will be in Nashville, TN all day Friday and ship out Saturday and arrive on Monday? Or ship Friday afternoon, and be here Saturday? I have next day shipping so.... dunno... hoping it's Saturday.

Edit: Awwww it will arrive Monday... sad panda....

 

my M15x came 9 days after i ordered it !

 

Ugh I ordered yesterday and my EDD is the 25th of November. The waiting begins

Anomalies notwithstanding, most folks are getting their machines well ahead of the EDD. Even with a delay in production, my wait was only 18 days... 1 day past the original EDD.

One a side note, the laptop is on a FedEx truck for delivery today.

Updated News, I was told by a rep it would not be here till Monday of next week.... I just checked my order status as I do every 30 mins... it's status is now Shipped, I have the carrier and tracking ##, it will arrive tomorrow around 4:30 PM! WOOT WOOT!

My previous EDD was October 8th. But after harassing dell order status customer service by calling them I think around 8-10 times and then the last call I changed the shipping...The guy on the other end finally spilled the beans to me and said "since I was a first time buyer, he has given me a complimentary next day shipping" and then for a side note says "that their is someone assigned especially to handlemy alienware m15x and their is no need to call again...blah blah blah...
EDD as of today with next day shipping- Oct 4
Hopefully it will come by Monady and ship tommorow

I ordered two Alienwares earlier this week and they're now sitting on the vehicle waiting for delivery according to fedex. Only problem is, this isnt going to happen till Monday. Does anyone know if I call Fedex if I can go pick those two packages up? I've done it with UPS before. Advice would be MUCH appreciated!

 

Is FedEx the overnight company they use vs UPS?

Also what ship times are you guys getting from time of order?

Mine arrived Friday via Fedex. I live 2 mins from where I work. The Fedex guy actually brought it to my office because he knew it needed a signature. So I sat all day Friday in my office with this huge Alienware Box next to me for 4 hours, and unable to open it! When 5 pm hit, I was out the door with it, rushing home to open it!

Got to say, awesome laptop! I removed the DVD drive, and put in my HDD caddy that I originally bought for my SXPS. It actually fit perfectly.
