Thinking of getting this game but what is this game suppose to play like on the m11x anyway? BFBC2 is barely playable on my machine as it is now..

Looks like there are no SEA servers either, probably won't get it anyway..

    why is this?

one more thing, what do the realtek audio drivers have to do with the game's performance itself?

It seems like sound is what's taking up all the CPU cycles, when you type /snd_restart in the console to restart the sound, FPS briefly pops up to a playable level

As batboy advised in first page. Would be helpful to know which drivers you are using oc or not etc. As it seems some
People are flying and others crawling

Exactly - posting that your are running fine without including your in-game settings/driver ver# is not helping. While I'm thrilled some of you are not having issues, especially on the R1, many are.

I am finally sitting down to play on my R1 and take a look - first thoughts echo what many report here - unplayable. Is it the hardware? No. Its the game. Will post my full settings, info, etc. once I figure out what is going on.

Currently on the 197 driver presently with the dell 6083 Realtek driver - in other words, stock.

My bad, all driver are stock from Dell
Single player is unplayable (10-20fps) and somehow MP is different.

Btw a patch is on the way:

I have an R2 with i7 (260.89 drivers). I changed a bunch of settings in the config, and now it's much better, at the very worst it's still playable. Setting BlackOpsMP.exe priority to "low" in the task manager helped some to, setting it to "high" made it much slower, almost no stuttering on low. I tested it out in combat training at 800x600 in windowed mode so I could monitor the task manager in realtime, helps with trying lots of different settings.

I followed THX's advice in this post:

    Black Ops M11x R2 THX

And it has been working perfectly for me in single-player, I have yet to try MP though.

Everyone was at first ignoring the safe mode option, when THX's advice to use it was the right idea. It gets the game running so you can effectively edit your settings.

Also, I'm using the 260.89 drivers instead and still seems to be working great. No overclocking, and I haven't updated realtek yet.

I decided to jump on the bandwagon and got it today for my R1. I was hesitant because of what I read on this forum but turns out it was all for not. Supposedly the lag that the m11x is experiencing is steam-wide issue that has been addressed. I read it somewhere and will try to find it and edit this post with the information. They said to give it 2-3 days for the traffic of downloads to die down and that should decrease the lag. The problem is not the computer its the system.

    Specs:
Stock M11x with 4GB ram. Overclocked.

    Nice!!

Kotaku has an article on the front page at the top headlines about how bad the bugs are for all PC's. Sorry I don't have a link.

    Bottom line, it's the game.

It's a bug riddled mess. And not just the PC version, but talk backers are saying there's massive bugs in the console version too.

Now that I know it's causing havoc for everyone, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well my R2 runs it (from what I've played)

I'm playing this on my desktop with quad core 3.0ghz, 4GB RAM and 460GTX, MP is unplayable. I can Imagen how it would be on my M11x. They really need to get this fixed ASAP.

Here my favorite site for games rankings, gamerankings lol, CODBO scores 88.83 which is a culmination of all the reviews on the net, gamespot 9/10 which is not easy task, but staying on topic I wouldnt think the game has to drastic of patches for gameplay and how systems are running the game if the score is any indication of the reviews.

It baffles me as to why the critic reviews are all 9/10 90/100 and so on but the real critics, the buying public, are averaging roughly 50/100 4-5/10!

It just confirms to me as I have thought for a long while there are no mainstream review sites out there that can be trusted to provide an honest review and it feels they all get caught up in the hype.

The more cynical possibly paranoid side of my nature says they are generally on the payback frrm the software companies and that you cant believe a thing they write!

I have this game on PS3, and have racked up a cool 14 hours of gameplay. My qualms? None, but the graphics.

This is the successor to CoD4.

Finally, it some how work yesterday using the go in Safe mode and then changing to 1920-1080 rez. That was a bit laggy but in 1360*766 is not bad. The game is still laggy as hell and if they are to many effect and player it becomes step motion animation.

Tried it out last night for my R1. Super lag, menu lag when changing settings, it ran well in certain parts and then it dropped to awful framerates.

When people with quad cores are having problems, it's not our computers.

Critics are definitely giving it inflated scores, but regular gamers are also being extremely harsh. Even the review site I usually trust to give honest reviews (Gamerevolution) gave Black Ops an A-, basically a 9/10

I remember back in the NES and Genesis days I didn't even know about game reviews, and I almost always loved the games I ended up buying. Years later, I looked up reviews of those games and found that some of them got unanimously HORRIBLE ratings... kinda makes me wonder if reviews hurt gaming more than they help. Even accurate reviews of a good game can change the experience by raising expectations and turning it into a letdown once you actually play. And you might end up loving some of the games you skip because they got crappy reviews :(

Eucadiz - I would wait until they get the issues ironed out. I still haven't purchased a copy for me yet. I have been helping my friends as best as possible who already purchased a copy. <Just my opinion>

The facts are many people are experiencing issues. Activision/Treyarch know about it.

    Best wishes, StevenX

    Wait a second..
I thought BlackOps was using PB, therefore multiplayer wasn't possible on the R2 model until Nvidia brings out it's latest driver in the near future?

Could someone help me understand this please?

So from what I gathered, by using Steam as a DRM, that means Steam are using their own cheat detection (VAC) which allows Optimus, rather than using the default BlackOps PB?

So that means Black Ops is playable on the R2 :D

    okay i have an i7 R2
the first time when i get in to the game, its black screen, i quit and opened it again with safe mode, turned settings to 1366x768 no vsync , others all auto.
and second time opening it, no need for safe mode, just click and open

I can get 20-35fps in SP , so is some what playable
MP i could get 30-40(all settings auto, no vsync)
so it is totally fine in MP for me

    I m using nvidia 260.99 driver
    and realtek is running stock
    no cpu and gpu oc
    didnt change priority settings
    and got decent results

Where you able to find the modified INF file for the 260.99 driver?

I am downloading the driver from laptopvideo2go.com but there INF isnt there.. the link is broken or something. Can i still install it without the INF itself?

    thanks!

If you're on the R1, you really should wait for a patch. It's unacceptable that this laptop should have trouble playing Black Ops; especially when I tried each resolution and it all came out the same. From what I hear, it's because BO goes for the CPU and barely touches the GPU, for some reason.

I might add that I have all stock drivers and such.

Nothing but black screen on startup. Tried restarting Steam, tried previously mentioned tip on changing full screen config from 1 to 0 and can't edit the value for some reason. This is really frustrating. Also tried running in safe mode when originally prompted but made no difference.

For anyone with the black screen with the sound, it's got something to do with anti-aliasing. I know this because CoD4, CoD5 and CoD6 all have the same problem on the M11x. Your best bet is experimenting with different levels of AA, until someone finds a workaround.

When I start blackops, multiplayer or singleplayer, it loads to a black screen where the mouse pinwheel for windows 7 is swirling then stops, then I can hear the background music of the intro and everything but it remains a Black screen.
Things I have tried: (to no avail)

    Reinstalled game, redownloaded everything.
    Update directx
    Update nvidia drivers
    Update intel drivers
    Change resolution
    Priority changes
    and others

Still giving me a black screen, please lend me your assistance, couldn't find any help in the blackops thread already on here

use ctrl+alt+delete and force game to exit. then start the game again, it will ask if you want to start in safe mode(not windows safe mode). do this over and over again till it starts normally. took me 5 times until I saw video.
