Oceanus -- do you know if Alienware/Dell ever did anything about reducing the fan noise? I know downgrading the BIOS was the 1st thing to try, but the CPU fan always remains at 4K. I have never found an app to slow this down. I have even thought about cutting the blades in half to reduce the noise. Any last ideas?

 

Sorry, I don't have that either. Various security websites flagged my server for having a virus because of the way Alienware coded that file. For that reason, I had to remove it from the server.

I'll have to check for a backup somewhere. I'll let you know if I happen to find it.

At the moment, there is no new update (and I don't think there will-- seeing as how Alienware is starting to phase out the old m15x) for the CPU fan noise. x32 is the only BIOS that I know of that will reduce the speed of the fans (both x34 and x36 have higher fan speed profiles to prevent overheating).

Keep in mind that the m15x has had its fair share of heat related issues. There is a reason the fans are running as fast as they are.

Oceanus..been perusing this thread and man..you are on top of this ! Where can I get the area 51 m15x driver disk? I am more than willing to pay for it. I inherited this AW m15x and suffice it to say it is a very finicky machine and any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks acEAnGLEr

I'm in the same boat... bought a used m15x and just a clean vista with NO extras. I would pay damn near whatever you wanted for a disk I could put in this thing and get its together!

 

do u have the drivers for windows 7 ultimate x64? that would help me alot.... i am using alienware m51-15x intel core 2 duo T8100 2,1ghz.... nvidia 8600M GTX 250 Mb ,4Gb RAM ,everytime i played skyrim it lag.....need it badly. if i download the drivers from nvidia website always bluescreen from the direct x driver......

P.S. I call Alienware to ask to make an account but sence i did not buy it from them they will not help me.

I am a PC tech and work on laptops and PC all the time. i think it is very worg for them to restrick access to softwar to those that did not buy the laptop or pc from them.

I have never owned a Alienware because I can build my own better and cheaper. but i lucked in to this laptop area 51 M15X R1 in a trade in. it worked but need plastic parts.

I want to say thank you to all here and for all the good work you all have done here.

To show my Thanks i want to give you all a heads up on a most excellent Windows 7 MOD. I put this on the M15X R1 and made it look and feel like an Alien system.

Does it activate online and work with windows update?

 

I used my CD KEY off my windows 7 Ultimate OEM and activated it with no issue and got all updates fine.

Did you try the win7 bundle one page back? Win 7 & vista run on the same kernel. From my understanding (could be wrong) the drivers should work the same.

Hey guys, does any1 have a download for command center for vista 32 bit m15x (not M15x)? Thanks ive already installed all the other drivers in order, just need command center and im done! BTW great post.

 

Hello I am the second owner of an alienware area 51 m15x. the guys i purchased it from said it had windows vista and gave me the book with the area-51 m15x Vista 64 bit support cd , alienware nero 9 essentials software , and microsoft windows vista home premium x64 system recovery dvd. if anyone needs any of these cds email me and I will help on that end as much as I can. He told me shortly after his purchase alienware sold to dell and offered him an upgrade to windows 7. they sent it to him on a usb stick and he cannot find it and the pc was running poorly. I purchased windows 7 ultimate and did a clean wipe and loaded the windows 7 on the pc. I did alot of pc research and found very little help as to what I need to make this computer back to what it is suppose to be. I have read this thread pretty well and saw that most of the downloads in the first page have no links anymore. I found the 36 bios on one of the last few pages of this thread and i found the package of working drivers on the last few pages as well. MY MAIN question will this be all the stuff i will need to make this baby right ? if so is there an order i should do this in or just go to town with the updates and drivers?

 

I went thru this download it was wonderfull and very helpfull with the install order you provided. I am having a few problems with it however.
when i went thru the whole process I opened the command center and found it does not have aliensence anymore. Is there another command center that will work and have my aliensence back? another thing i noticed was the spaceship touch button next to the turbo boost button is no longer opening the command center. other than that i and very happy to have it all coming back together.

 

To be honest I can't remember if I had aliensence or the command center button working. I always opened command center from the start menu. I set the m15x up for someone else so I don't have the laptop in my possession to test.

 

is there anyone who can help me? i need the alienware command center version 1.0.28,

cant download is from the my hive from alienware becouse the download stops at 20% the source file is lost or something like that.

Im not going to lie my HDD also crashed and i wish these links were fixed, iv spend nearly 2 weeks searching this forum and i keep coming up with W7 drivers, i reloaded Vista and now i need the drivers ... and my keyboard doesnt light up now

Windows Vista & 7 run on the same Kernel and share the same drivers. There were no official Windows 7 drivers for this machine so the drivers you see are actually Vista drivers.
