Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and this is my 1st post.

This will be my 1st Alienware. I have been going to the Alienware website and configuring different laptops for about 2 months but never pulled the trigger. But this last time I went to the website I noticed that they refreshed the hardware I was like holly freaking crap! Now I have to pull the trigger.

all in all it was about $1600 and when I told my co workers and friends how much it was they said I was crazy lol  . Thats why I like coming here to the forums because you guys are crazy to :D

    This is what I ordered...

    Alienware M14X R2

    3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3610QM
    6GB DDR3 at 1600MHz
    14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
1 GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForceGT 650M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
    64G mSATA + 500G 7200 rpm
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner, DVD+-RW
    and
    Alienware Orion M14x Backpack

    What do you think?

I received the backpack yesterday and now that I have it in my hands I can say this is the coolest backpack I have owned and defiantly worth $100.

It wont be delivered till 6/1/12 I cant wait...

You'll get it way before then, possibly in a week and a half from now easily.

    Looks like a solid system!

I bought the M14x R2 due to Diablo 3 as well. Finally would be a good time to switch from Xbox gaming back to the PC.

The timing from Dell and Intel is perfect for May 15 launch..

Same, I just hope the m14x would be powerful enough to play this on medium.

It's just a giant get-out clause for game developers. I highly doubt Blizz devs are that lazy when it comes to RAM efficiency given their track record with proprietary engines (WoW runs ludicrously well on my 2011 MBA - even the updated zones in the game).

Time will tell though, but am damn sure you'll be ok. :)

Aye, it will be my friend. Not looking forward to it, the funny thing is the laptop is already here at my local FEDEX, however it seems to have a preset time for delivery. I have no idea what they are waiting for.

Got mine today and it was supposed to ship on the 21st, I literally ordered it 10 days ago and negotiated next business day shipping on the phone. A pleasant surprise. Anything I should do right out of the box? So far I am installing SWTOR.

I would love to have some feedback on how it runs SWTOR. I am planning in upgrading from the m11x to the m14xr2. Hopefully it runs smooth with everythin maxed out! Well, maybe not shadows but would be great if it could.

With the kind of money we are all paying for this laptop , I'd surprised and ticked off if it couldn't play almost every game on high with a decent FPS :D

I can pretty much guarantee you'll be able to play with a high fps on mostly max settings.

I managed to play the beta on an old laptop with a 3DMark 06 score of 1500! Ok, it was on lowest detail and in 800x600, but it was playable. This new machine scores almost 10 times that, so I think it'll be fine ;)

Briefly put WoW on last night to test.. ~60fps on Ultra.

Hi I just found this video on youtube alienware M14x R2 unboxing - YouTube unboxing of the m14x R2, nothing really new cause it's all the same as the R1 but I though some people would be happy to see it since it's the 1st unboxing video of the R2 I think.

So I took the base off my R2 to see if I could find the mSata slot - I probably could have looked in the instructions but hey :D

I stopped short of taking the optical drive and HDD out, because I was was a bit nervous with a brand new machine, but is this the msata slot, next to the wireless card?

    @aqeb95
R1 didn't include it either. It's M15X and up if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, no goodies I'm afraid, apart from the fabric sleeve that the laptop comes in.

Anyway, who cares about caps and stickers when you've got a brand new gaming laptop in the box?

I took them off with a shaving razor when i painted my M17x. Be careful with the COA sticker though because it has multiple cuts.

That is true lol. I'm seriously stoked for this... my first Alienware laptop ever usually I'm a desktop gamer and build my own, but a laptop sounded fun. Hoping the 900p screen wont throw me off, used to 1080p lol.

You won't , 900p in 14" is beyond awesome , external monitor would help thou , if you want 1080p :D

If 14" with 1080p + 650m that would be too much/tiny fps reduced.

Sooks might be right , but correct answer only can be confirmed by who owns M14x-r1 & r2.

You need to wait around a month to see those parts(motherboard) available on sale in ebay.(when they become refurbished)
