Darkii, those temps are normal for the M14x. The cpu is known for getting really hot in this machine.
However, with turbo boost off you should be getting lower temps.
I'd recommend getting a laptop cooler, you can't go wrong with getting one of these:

Are you aware of optimus? as your probably using the intel card, whitelist the syrim exe in the nvidia control panel. Btw there is no spec in your sig.

I've been having this weird issue ever since the 1.5 patch.

When I double-click TESV.exe the mini window pops open in the top-left of the screen, and then it goes to a full black screen, and crashes to desktop with no error code.

I've uninstalled every mod, removed ScriptDragon and ScriptExtender, verified the integrity of the game cache four times, rebooted, and set all the graphics to low in windowed mode, but everytime its fails.

I am running the 296.10 drivers, though, maybe that could be an issue?

Nvidia drivers from the nvidia site. dell drivers are always outdated. Ive always used nvidia drivers and have never had a problem or issue in any game.

Ok I have a problem. For some reason, Skyrim lags quite a bit for me. My Skyrim settings are:
    resolution of 1366x768
    antialiasing off
anisotropic filtering set to 8 samples
all advanced options set to medium
water reflects land, trees, and objects
Also, I have the 3gb graphics card for my computer, the i7 2760QM 2.4 GHz processor, and 8GB of RAM.
Also, I have 34 mods, the only performance decreasing mods I have are enhanced blood textures from Steam and the static mesh improvement mod from Nexus. Does it have to do with the amount of mods I have, or why cause even at these settings I only get 35 fps.

are you definately using your 555m? have you whitelisted it? you could be using the intel hd 3000. I get more than that fps wise and i have about 80 mods on high settings, with over 5gb of texture mods, with no overclock at 1600x900p res.

Try going into the nvidia control panel by right clicking on the desktop, then select manage 3d settings, find skyrim.exe and the skyrim launcher.exe (in steam/steamapps/common/skyrim) then add them under program settings and select the nvidia processor as the preffered gpu.

Yeah I am using the 555m (when I open up Skyrim in the options it says I am using the 555m), and in the nvidia control panel it says that I am using high performance nvidia processor. Not sure about whitelisting though, sorry I have no idea what that is and how to do that (yeah sorry I am kind of a noob lol)

    Hey Mate,

Are you using the correct power adapter when playing (ie a 150w) i had issue with mine when i had a 90W in, because the battery power delivery is turned off when your on power there is not enough to run the cpu and gpu at full speed, i even noticed mouse lag at work when using a 90W power adapter.

Also have you got alot of Mods installed, some mods have serious affects on the performance of skyrim on the m14x, its a great gaming machine, but like everything it has its limits, if you try putting to many mods onto skyrim while playing on the m14x you will find it hurts the performance.

To give you an idea without any mods i can get 60fps on high without any drama. with the mods i have( official HD tex pack, realistic water anda couple of others) this drops to about 40. If you have mods, try disabling all of them and just run skyrim as it comes 'out-of-the-box'

    Hope that helps

The thing is is that I am not using the texture pack (I used to but deleted it cause I got like 20 fps) and the only mods that MIGHT hit performance are the enhanced blood textures and the improved meshes like I stated before. Even then, the enhanced blood textures shouldn't be a performance hitter, as well as the meshes, heck I even removed a ton of meshes from the mod to improve the fps. All the other mods are just ones that add useful stuff, nothing that changes textures or tries to add realism. I will try and remove all my mods to see if it changes at all, but I do not know why it would matter, considering that Sam_A can play on high at normal resolution with 80 mods and 5gb of texture mods (just imagining playing that in Skyrim makes feel happy inside :D)

btw i am using the 150w charger

do you have any idea why though? I have like no texture mods, so idk why skyrim is running horribly. What is whitelisting?

Whitelisting is opening up the NVidia control panel and forcing the Skyrim .exe into using the NVidia graphics processor(s) by loading it into the software and select NVidia processor from the drop down menu.

Wait a few things. One, so if I whitelist, is this better than putting the global settings as high performance? Also, when you say Skyrim.exe, do you mean SkyrimLauncher.exe or TESV.exe?

Yeah I already whitelisted, but I am still having problems with the game, 20 fps.

Before when I first got Skyrim I could play on high-ultra with little to no lag. I deleted ALL my mods, whitelisted Skyrim, and on high settings I get 20 fps :( how can I fix this?! I would love help!

Whitelisting the launcher is pointless, as it will itself launch tesv.exe when you click play.

Whitelisting the launcher could serve by getting high/ultra setting when it tests your machine.

    My launcher isn't whitelisted.

Have you definately whitelisted the main tesv.exe?
What power supply are you using? as D3athScyth3 suggested.
do you get 20 max all over the map? as the opening scene is pretty buggy from the last time i remember.
Are you sure your machine isnt overheating and the gpu is throttling itself?
Have you disabled turbo boost on your cpu?
Are you plugged into power or on battery?
Have you clean installed the game completely removing all mods and their textures and deleted everything and reinstalled?
Have you tried a defrag or tried running ccleaner?
Do other games run as they did before?

Just some questions to understand the problem more.

i do not know how to disable turbo boost
i completely removed every single mod
i have tried using gamebooster 3, still lags
yes games run normally as before

Ok guys, i gave it up. I tried everything.

Why the hell lag this game in certain areas, even with a decent framerate
around 40 fps? It doesn`t matter if i turn AA off or on, or set shadows to medium, it`s
still laggy in big towns or some forests.

My drivers and game patches are up to date.
    OC set to 700/1400/1080

Yeah I kinda gave up too. I don't really care if Skyrim can only run at Low-Medium. It looks horrible, but I don't really know why its lagging. I've tried almost everything, and I might just give up.

Hey all, I've got a quick question.

I'm running the 296.10 drivers and the latest version of Skyrim, and it keeps CTDing on me, I can't even get to the Bethesda logo.

I've uninstalled every mod and texture pack, verified the game files through Steam, done a clean install of Skyrim and my video drivers, but to no avail.

Anyone having a similar issue, or hopefully a solution?

I am also running 290.10 and the game froze on me 3 times in 2 hours yesterday. It freezes, not CTD.

I only have 3 houses for mods, nothing else, and the last time I had this kind of problem was when patch 1.2 was released.

Anyone get this sudden and inexplicable freeze?

I don't really feel like browsing through 28 pages on this thread so I guess I'll just ask:
Does anyone have a good setup that will do 45fps outside and like 60fps indoors?
I want to stay at 1600x900 btw. I'm trying to balance do like 60% performance 40% visuals.

I don't know if you'll like this configuration, but I max out everything, set shadows on medium, turn off FXAA & Antialiasing and that gives me pretty smooth performance.

Sorry, I'm very late in this thread, but I've been looking for a settings post like this for a while.

Skyrim was running ok on my 1-year old M14x, but I've noticed many sturring incidences lately.
The game was running at 15-25 FPS, and with the settings above I easily gained 20 FPS!

    SO THANKS A BUNCH GEARSGUY!!!!
