Greenfeild didnt you order around the same time as I did? I got mine on time but when I checked up a couple days before it shipped they said that some parts were delayed.

I dunno why you guys are getting delays like shortage of hinges or of power cords but ordered mine on Oct. 2nd and had an EDD of Oct 25th and today which is the 9th it went from in production to shipped and they updated my EDD to Oct 11th. From Chicago USA.

Upgraded almost evrything from cpu to screen and wireless card plus custom nameplate and it took from Oct 2-9th about 8 days (6 business days) from ordering it to being shipped. That is pretty quick and it shaved off about 2 weeks of the original EDD.

I just ordered one tonight and my EDD is 10/24.

    I went with the i7 3630qm, 8gb ram, 1600x900 screen, 2GB 650m, and Killer wireless card.

Bad idea to get 2gb ram upgrade from dell since it is overpriced and the 2gb gt 650m since 1gb is more than enough unless you run multiple monitors

Well the config I was originally looking at was the 900p screen, 6gb ram, i7, and 1gb 650m came out to $1234.
This one I ordered was $1332 because it had instant $100 off.

I also used a $50 coupon code and had my college discount.

So I paid paid roughly $100 for the 2gb 650m and the 2gb ram.

    I'm not that concerned.

My Alienware has been finally delivered. Shame I won't be able to see it before Monday as I'm out of the country.

I was very close to cancelling my order due to excessive delay but thankfully Dell managed to meet the revised EDD.

One lesson learned is not to place an order around / right before the Chinese Golden week as it affects the performance of the entire supply chain.

    Order placed 24th September
    Delivered 11th of October

I just ordered a M14x R2 from dell outlet for $1072 shipped. It has 900p screen, 12 GB RAM, i7-3720QM(allows OC up 400MHz in BIOS), 2 GB 650m 750 gig 7200RPM and 32 GB mSATA. Only other thing I wanted was blu-ray but for the price it couldnt be beat. I used the 25% off coupon and its a refurb but still has standard 1 year warranty. It gonna be here on monday because I live 20 miles from the warehouse. I think you should all check out the sell outlet sales. They had some for 950 with the stock screen and i5 and then take 25% off and your at like 750.

    Coupons code is : 8$PS140SD99ST1

it valid till 9AM CT on 10/13

    Ended up saving almost $500.

I'm glad I could have helped. I've seen people spend 1600 on the config I got for 1072... the outlet sales really are the best. Sometimes if you call them and ask them to next day ship it they will for free.

So it seems my system is quite alright. Haven't encountered any problems (havent tried gaming yet) only thing that's bother me is - when I first time pressed FN+Print Screen, nothing happened, after a few times it seem to start to work, but with delay and sometimes it enabled only one section of keyboard first, then other light up.

    Dell has 30% M14x R2's until 9am tomorrow.

Dell Outlet coupon: 30% off refurb Alienware X51 desktops or M14x R2 laptops

Side note, I got mine in the mail today! Yay. Only downfall is Zone 7 "Alienware name" doesn't light up.
Had the tech remote in and he did bios upgrade, reinstall AlienFX, change some registry settings but no luck.
Now they want me to send it back out. Grrrrr...

Ordered mine on 17th, got it this past Friday. Unfortunately, Dell delayed the order for the mouse (why wasn't it included in the first place?) until January, 2013. Seriously? What the hell (hardly the worst thought I had at the time).... Its a Razer Orochi.

what gives? it isn't out of stock on just about every other e-tailer I can find.

Hey, so I called Dell earlier today to ask about my order and they said that the EDD was the date that they will be aiming for (mine is on the 10th Dec). The customer service rep (named Robin I believe) also said that he would help me follow up on my order and would provide me with updates. IMO, it sounds like something they would say all the time to anyone. He also told me there were no delays with the order.

Hope it'll come in before then =/

I placed my online order for the M14x R2 on 11/21. It went till Pre-production status. On 11/28 I got a mail that order status changed. On checking I saw that Dell themselves has cancelled the order, citing some issues with the configuration and themselves put in a new order. The new order date is 11/28 and EDD is 12/13. (Earlier EDD was 12/06). Even today (12/05) this new order status is 'Order Processing'... :| :|

So I check my status online this morning around 6am EST and I see that they changed my EDD to the 12th, the fact that this made me rather annoyed goes without saying. As soon as I get out of my last class of the day however, I see that on the status it reads "Shipped" the fact the they shipped it before I got the email stating that the EDD was delayed made me laugh a bit.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your computer before the EDD.

So my M14x came in today. Opened it up and powered it on, wouldnt work. Came in DoA, I'm getting a replacement system in 2 weeks since they are building me another one. I can't believe this is happening, but this is the sort of luck I tend to have. I hope your systems are in excellent condition compared to mine.

I called Dell again today and told them I would have to cancel the order if I could not recieve the shipment on time. The rep then put me on hold to check the status of my order and she said that it was in the final stages of production and should ship within the next 24-48 hours. So hopefully by tomorrow or the day after they would start shipping my laptop.

Seems like you have to give Dell threats in order to get things done effectively.

Well guys, looks like I can join this queue for an M14xR2 :)

    Ordered 27/12
Current Status - 'In Production' as of 2/1
    EDD - 17/1

Upgrading from an M11xr2 which I have loved for over a year now. Just after more power and a bigger screen for gaming. Thinking about selling the M11x although it will be tough to part with that little guy!

I'm guessing you are in the UK as my dates are identical to yours!!!

Let me know if you get any updates or delivery calls ;) I'm compulsively spamming the refresh button on the status page but it doesn't seem to help :(

I'm sure when I ordered my last Dell (an XPS m1730, so we are talking a long time ago!!) there were more detailed sub stages than just "In Production" :(

    Hey,

Yes I am from the UK. My order status was updated to shipped on Saturday morning (the 5th). No updated EDD is given but my tracking info has been linked. Now I am waiting for the UPS site to be updated as currently it only says the shipping label has been created but has no info on estimated delivery etc..

I am hoping this means it will arrive this week sometime :) No idead how long the standard shipping takes. Im guesing these are coming from Ireland? I'll find out when the UPS site is updated.

Already bought a 256gb Msata to add to the machine, cant wait :)

Oooh hopefully mine won't be far behind then! It's still in production right now but the online CS assure me there are no parts delays etc... guess it's just wait and see.

I have a spare 256gb Samsung 830 for mine, although that means no space for a HDD.

    What spec was yours?

I went with the base i7 and 500gb hard drive. They gave me the 8 gb ram upgrade and killer wireless for free after a bit of haggling too. 900p screen also.

Sounds like we have an identical spec, I ended up with the 2gb GPU as well, although I didn't really want/need it. Paid £900 by stacking EPP discounts with vouchers.

    Wish mine would ship :(

I went with the 2gb card too for no real reason. Paid 950 with the Xmas 100 off offer and other oine discounts I found. Saved about 300 off the price in total and went for the 6 months interest free option. Was quite happy with that! 900 is a good price, well for us in the uk anyway :(

Just got ups updated. Interestingly, eventhough i got a dell email saying the laptop left our European manufacturing facility on Saturday, it seems the laptop is in fact coming from china. If it arrives on Wednesday ill be impressed, looks to be on a flight from china tonight I guess.

So I guess no laptops are shipped out of Europe? I thought they made them in Ireland too but maybe it's just a call centre or parts facility they have there.

I know right it's almost cheaper to order from the US and ship it over, warranty issues not withstanding and if you have someone in the US to order it for you.

I did 0% finance as well... it seemed that our orders were so similar I thought I would harass the online chat staff (again).

Amazingly, I seem to have gotten the only helpful person in Dell's support department, who rather than just parroting the EDD to me told me it should be delivered in 2-3 days and that he would email and update me shortly. I guess I'll believe it when I see it on the status page but it sounds positive!

My understanding (much googling about Dell and not much work has happened since 27/12) is that they used to be made in Ireland (my m1730 was) but it's now China.
