Actually all that means is it's going through the USA. It won't make an update until it hits the border and is accepted in Canada. I wish it would scan as it moved in the USA but nope, us Canadians just get stuck with that line for the entire duration of it being in the states.

Can someone make any sense of this alienware 15 deal? It's the second option (US Site) for 1549.99, comes with a gtx 970m, 1080p screen, 128 ssd plus 1tb hdd. It says "Unleash the gamer inside. With an Intel® Core™ i7 quad core processor,Windows 8.1, a Full HD 1920x1080 display and the NVIDIA® GTX® 970M GPU." But if you scroll down, it actually is optioned with the core i5, not the i7, can anyone here clarify?

A lot of crap on that website is incorrect or old. I wouldn't trust the site completely or the sales agents on there for correct information, unfortunately. When I go on the site sometimes I get parts of it in German.

I honestly despise Dell for the new Alienware 15 lineup. It seems now that you can't even option a core i7 with a gtx 970m anymore. It looks like they're trying to put more emphasis on the amd graphic option, probably due to low demand, because for 1550, you can only get a core i5 (can't upgrade to the i7) with the gtx 970, or the next option is the core i7 with the radon m290x for only 50 bucks more. If this is true, they've lost me as a customer.

I placed my AW 15 order on March 6 and it's still processing... I paid with the Dell Preferred Account though. Does it take this long for them to process payment and start production?

I can't say about the m.2 version (obviously) but I have 2 850 Evo 500gbs in my laptop and they're god damn amazing. When you take into account performance and expected reliability you really really cannot get a better SSD for the price (or even close to the price).

Thank you! I have an Evo in my desktop and its been pretty swell. First SSD and the performance increase was incredibly impressive, so I would like one for my laptop too. Willing to wait for it, but not too much. Ahaha... I'm not too much the patient type it seems or else I might have waited for the Clevo to release a 17" IPS screen.

So my laptop was last seen on a UPS truck in North Carolina this morning. ETA: Monday 3/16.
Delivery on business days only. I can't believe I'm upset that the work week is done and the weekend is here...
Iyaaa~ come on UPS truck! I'll meet you halfway! Cross country road trip!

I ordered yesterday AW15 with 970M and instead of spending extra on 980M I choose the UHD touchscreen. I could only afford one of the two.

I am aware that 970M is not going to drive a UHD screen for any gaming at all, but would be fine for 1080p. I although I am not a huge gamer anymore.

The UHD panel is more for quality of the panel over the 1080p, and the added pixels, also I love using touchscreen notebook (where as some people hate them).

I am not going to regret choosing the UHD panel over the 1080p panel? All I know is if I don't follow through with the UHD panel I will just stay with the 970M any how and save some money.

Any thoughts on the above for those that have the UHD panel, I know the panel doesn't seem to be a popular option?

I did email Dell to change/cancel the current order and re-order with 980M updated, after 2 days from placing the original order with 970M. I had concerns with the UHD not being able to handle the 970M including the fact it is only 3GB vRAM.

The sales rep told me sure thing and cancelled the order (he said in an email), and then emailed later that night and said "it to late already and he cant cancel anything, I have to take it with the 970M". I emailed back saying that he can actually still cancel it and generate a new quote, as had done this before, he then changed his tune and said "you misunderstood my original email" as is was my fault, but continue to say that he could still cancel and re-order.

Sales rep was trying to force me to take the machine, even though he said he could cancel and re-order new in the first place. Didn't send me a quote as promised in first the 1-2 hours he said. I know he was still around many hours after the 1-2 hours for about another 6-7 hours, and still no quote even when asked.

Anyway after that, he knew that I knew, and then hasn't bothered to answer several emails. Would not call me on the phone, I could not call his direct dial number. Obviously avoiding me at this stage.

I am bit unhappy as the lack on communication from Dell is horrible for the high-end price and notebook, isn't just you usual consumer laptop. This isn't great customer service at all, and all I could say in my further emails (as he is not replying) is to just cancel my order totally. Thanks Dell for the run around, and you lost a sale, don't think I even bother taking up a new quote IF then I actually get one.

THESE DELL SALE REPS IGNORE YOU WHEN IT SUITS THEM!

Report that agent to a manager. Call back and any other agent can cancel the order for you.

Thanks for the reply. I have deal with that person's manager in the past, she is just as rude. She hanged up the phone on me, then said later in an email "I don't know happened, the line went bad". I had Dell sale reps in my region hang up the phone more than once before, its their way of getting out of a conversation they can be bothered with or don't want to address.

Not sure who I can report to, when the manager is driving the team and calling the shots?

My order has now progressed in the last 2 hours to "Ship from Factory", even though I have told them via email to cancel it before it move any further. They are just not answering. Disgusting service, this regional area need a shift kick up the bum from someone else higher up in Dell.

My AW17 arrived. Yay! It's still in the box though. I got caught up playing with my desktop (new cpu and ssd :D).
Plan to run it through some tests tomorrow and return if unsatisfied.

I do have to agree, the alienware customer reps are easily contacted enough, but their knowledge, personality, and service are really poor.
I've spoken with six over time and five have given misleading specs, incomplete answers, and/or copy and pastes from the website.
I had one that was nice, but he was nice about not replacing the 180w with a 240w...
One is now spamming my emails with Dell Deals. I've had to report them as spam and block her name.
The copy and paste was the worst, especially because I copy and pasted it first asking them to expand on the details. Their response was to copy and paste what I copied and pasted. Like asking someone, "your site mentions a 4tb 7200 rpm hdd. What brand is the 4tb 7200 rpm hdd?" and having them tell you "its a 4tb 7200 rpm hdd." I didn't really know what to think of that one.

I feel as though Alienware doesn't fancy NBR much right now. On my initial call, I mentioned reading a review on NBR and the conversation just ended right there. I haven't mentioned NBR since and reps have been very chatty, albeit incomplete answers or pushing sales.

I will have to say though, I've gotten the same from ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, and HP - minus the copy paste.
Razor and XoticPC were exceptionally nice. As soon as either releases a stable 17.3 IPS, they shall have my monies.

I got on chat session (when couldn’t contact the sale rep and they would get back to me) to some other sales rep from dell that recommended that I call customer support to cancel the order (even though I didn't have the phone number after looking for it), the Dell chat guy kept asking if I had done it yet.
Finally he gave me a phone number to call, but only after I have to try find the number on the Dell website, then ask the rep “where/what is it?”

The Dell rep got back to me tonight, all of sudden said that he could cancel the order (even though I had gone through customer support to get the shipment cancelled, that shouldn't have shipped when he said “no it’s too late you cannot cancel”).

I go to spend more money at Dell and then things don’t get done, even though I gave enough time for the cancellation at that stage. Customer service is frustrating, at the time I really need it, it is an online sale, and there isn’t any help during it. Hate to think what would happen after buying it and then needing something. More care is needed on these high-end high cost purchases for the customer compared to someone buying a low end inspiron.

The rep send me another quote today finally, actual I have two now, one from the other rep that helped on the chat session. Although I am very reluctant to follow through with the new quote now, I don’t feel like I can trust or count on Dell sales rep if/when I need them during the buying process. This isn’t retail store customer service; they need to go the extra mile for the extra security for the end customer.

Yeah at this stage on the fence about buying with the new quote, Dell may have lost this sale. Might take my 3.2K that I have to spend to someone else instead. Not like I am loaded with cash all the time, takes me awhile to get this money together.

Strange, I cancelled through customer support. 2 days later the order has further progressed today to "In Transit" which states "Arrived in Main Hub". Anyone know what that means exactly?

Wow after all the crap you have been through with them, huge complaints, threads, website. You are going to buy their product! That's is almost insanity.

What discount in percentage did you get from them on this?

The main issue is having to deal with reps after chat sessions and heaps of unanswered emails, especially not dealing with someone at-least that would be local in own country. There is a lack of customer care/service. Don't know what their hours are, and some-days they may not even in be the office, leaving no out of office messages, which is a travesty for a company that is main job of the rep is to sell Dell's product! Although in the end, Dell doesn't care either, it is more profitable for them to have it this way.
In the end, the reps are likely to be under paid, living in a country that is economically worse off GDP per person per capita than the target market where the customers are from. Different cultural values (use of language, ideals), and likely couldn't care much personally about someone else that is not in their own country.

Anyhow I re-ordered yesterday also, mostly because I still wanted the unit over other particular spec/priced models, currently available.

What was annoying was they wouldn't give me the same 17.5% as the last order, therefore this order was 16%, and I didn't have anymore time to haggle and wait for lengthy ongoing replies. Although I could somewhat justify losing 1.5%, as the free extra upgrade change from 128GB SSD M.2 to 16GB RAM upgrade. The RAM is worth more than the SSD, and since the RAM is maxed out, I don't have to replace that part. All I need is add is a SSD.
My order status is showing "Please enter a valid Order Number.", although on my order confirmation email, show the est. delivery date as below. I cannot find anything else, the phone numbers for customer care are closed during the weekend Saturday and Sunday! I guess that what you get for placing orders on Fridays, an extra delay!

The amount of complaining you had done, was more than anyone else I have ever seen. Yeah I can understand, likely got it for free or close to half price.

What I got is the normal maximum rate, then there is tiny 1-1.5% extra that can be applied from the manager. Seems to be structured this way for some time. I have no problem say what my percentage is, as over here, we are getting ripped off. Plus the government here likes to take an extra cut of 15% tax for every sale, even though we have already been taxed before we even get our earnings from wages or salary.

I worked out after discount and additional taxation, I would have paid in for the unit in my spec USD $2454.46

I won't lie, I'm a very vocal consumer whether I like a product or if I hate a product, I let people know.
I can assure you I didn't get it for free. Tax in my province is 15% also, so I know your pain.

Actual I got the price wrong, after discount and additional taxes the price was $2454, the other price in above post is without tax, which essentially means nothing as I have to paid it at time of sale and can never claim it back.

Yeah I tend to complain a lot if something isn't right. No wonder though, for the price paid with this, I am expecting it to be perfect.
As mentioned before, most of the issue is dealing with online store with actual sale been done off shore, basically it allow Dell to wipe hands after sale. If anything goes wrong, customer is stuck with dealing with a ludicrous amount of questions and phone calls to make anything happen.
Online store in own country are was more easier to deal with and understanding, just in general easier to talk with for a resolution. Further more, if walking into a store and buying something, can just always walk on back in and get it sorted out right then and there.

To be perfectly honest, I hate dealing with online sales at all (unless I am buying a can of packet of chewing gum where literally nothing could go wrong), but in the case of buying a particular product like the AW, then it is only option.

I think for the most part, some people are having issues while the majority are not. From other forums I've read many happy campers for these laptops, but who knows, maybe they're ignorant.

    What country are you in?

Last time I had an almost immediate order status. I have been charged. I cannot call Dell they close their customer support over the weekends here, open only Monday to Friday. Is this normal for an order status after 2 days? Please enter a valid Order Number.
