Here's what I do when I restore back to my factory Image (for the Killer Drivers that is)

    1) Uninstall the Killer LAN using GeekUninstaller and don't let it reboot when prompted so you get the option to clean out the leftovers by GeekUninstaller
    2) Do the same for the WLAN Killer Driver
    3) Reboot
    4) Uninstall the Intel Bluetooth Driver
    5) Run the Killer Uninstaller as admin, let it search for any drivers, then clean the leftovers (the button underneath the scan) then reboot when prompted
    6) Uninstall the Killer Software (the Microsoft Store app) from the start menu
    7) Reboot into Safe Mode
    8) Run NSUDO then hit browse and guide it to Windows\System32\regedt32.exe and hit launch to run REGEDIT as a Trusted Installer
    9) In the reg editor, hit EDIT then FIND and type Killer then hit enter, every time you find a key, delete it then hit F3 to look for the next key
    10) delete all reg keys related to Killer Software, you will find more than 20 (so much for that Killer Uninstaller heh?)
    11) Reboot back into Windows in normal mode
    12) Install the latest Killer LAN/WLAN/and Bluetooth then reboot but make sure you always hit CUSTOM and uncheck the Killer Software (last option)
    13) Run the Killer Uninstaller again but this time hit the "Disable Killer from Windows Update" button. If you get a message saying unable to install blocking driver, ignore that for now it worked for me after a few reboots when I was online.

Note: If for any reason the Killer Software app from Windows store gets automatically re-installed, ensure you run services.msc and disable the Killer Networking Service and Killer Bandwidth Control otherwise you will notice your internet is either too slow or some apps will report that they don't have internet connectivity.

Yes, Killer cards are great hardware wise, but their software is the biggest piece of trash I've ever seen in my life!

Note 2: When downloading any file, make sure you unblock it before extracting it if it was a ZIP file or running it if it was an executable. See how and how to disable the automatic blocking of files in this guide: "Are you sure you want to run this file?" [Yes or No]

I might add to that a backup of your registry in terms of a "restore point" would be a good idea on the above. Call me crazy but I like "just in case" steps. I do like the safe mode aspect - seriously removing the killer elements (yep registry too!) is just nasty. If it's an option from the factory I always ask for non killer stuff just to save me this effort. I don't hate them, but I would highly prefer to never have their software anywhere in my system.

I'm not saying Intel is all "roses". None of them are (Broadcom, Marvell, Intel, Qualcomm) but at least the Intel solution is generally less bells and whistles, steady as you go and you get updates quickly if they do something wrong.

hey all new here. Just ordered an area51m, I have the rtx2700 model with 9700. I'm planning on buying a 9900k from the get go. Is there anything I need to get or do, aside from the 330 power brick?

FYI, a 3rd panel has shown up in the A51M. (referring to FHD 144hz G-Sync option)
    Chi Mei / Innolux N173HCE-G33 (CMN175C)
A few MSI laptops use this same panel. I do not have the panel yet to fully test but when I do, I will report any interesting findings back here. :)

You mentioned you changed your pads...
What did you do to your TIM (thermal paste) on the GPU Die?

It seems the brightness is a lot better on the Chi Mei panels that the other two, LG and AUO.

It's the same panel in the new GT76 and here's the link to the article:

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GT76-9SG-Laptop-Review-The-Titan-of-Gaming-Laptops.425043.0.html

My new replacement A51m is getting shipped from China this morning and I will report back with the panel information when it gets here. In any case though, I'll be happy with whichever 144Hz panel shows up on my doorstep in a weeks time. It's worth mentioning that Dell is advertising Eyesafe displays in their newer models after June 15th so may be I'll be getting the Chi Mei panel this time.

Edit: For anyone interested in this, my new part number is 391-bevh which is different from the old one although I cannot find any information on it online.

    Sent from a Galaxy S9+

Dropping down from 1935 to 1890 can depend on a lot of factors, not just the TIM application, your ambient temps for example.
I don't think you'll see too much of a performance drop between these values anyway so I wouldn't worry if I were you. If you want to make it run above 1900Mhz consistently, why don't you bump up the voltage by a few points and try it out.

From my own experience, different games makes the GPU run with slightly different frequencies. In CSGO, for example, I would run 1980Mhz all out @ 9.5mV in Afterburner at max temps of 60C. Same settings in Metro Exodus or Division 2, the GPU drops down to ~1850Mhz with temps hitting low 80C. So, there is that factor as well.

So, don't stress mate, you have a beast of a computer, use it without tweaking every little detail about it unless you are trying to set a record breaking benching run or something like that. For everyday gaming and productivity, it doesn't matter in the slightest.

I got my replacement with A Chi Mei model cmn175f it was suppose to be a G sync but it's not so be careful with that. Since it was a 144hz monitor I thought it was a G sync until a couple days later I reinstalled windows and notice I didn't have the G sync step option.

That's horrible after such a long wait times... I cannot find any information on this panel on the interwebs...

    1. What did you do? Are you replacing it with Gsync?

    2. How long did it take to reach you location (Europe/US?) after it left the Chinese factory?

    Thanks man.

    I agree. It's a beast of a machine isn't it?

The portability factor is what takes the prize. For me to be able to take my 9700k and RTX 2080 to different countries and have the same gaming setup anywhere is priceless. The performance of the machine is not too shabby either. It faster than my office's 8700k + 2070 setup.

I got this from HID, I received a new system after mine dead two months ago. It’s only been a week since I had this one. HID has asked me to return it to diagnose the issue lol. I told them I’m not going to return it until I can get reassured that I will receive a new system within a week. I’m in the Us btw.

The weird part is that I typed my system number in dell and it said it was a Gsync panel shipped with the system , maybe since they aren’t using the LG or AUO panels Nvidia doesn’t recognize it.

Ah, HID, why am I not even surprised...

In any case, you should definitely ask for a gsync compatible panel because you've paid for it! You might not need it now with every title flying out of the gates but in the future, you might find the gsync panel to be quite handy when FPS starts dropping down.. looking at you Cyberpunk 2077..

Keep us posted man and good luck.

    Sent from a Galaxy S9+

I had the exact same issue when I had mine a few weeks back, everything stuttered...got micro stutters in all my games... the background animations of AWCC was literally sluggish and slow.. I don't remember how I fixed it though, or its exact cause, because I was getting a lot of BSOD and ended up reinstalling the OS two or three times in one day.

I think you should clean install Windows again first, install updated drivers (turn off the internet during this phase)
follow Ultra Male driver install list to the "T" and update your Windows and restart whenever prompted. This is what fixed it for me.

Any of you have luck with Silicon Lottery's CPU delid package with this laptop and the 9900k? I'm deciding going this route if it would really improve temps "significantly". Right now I can't run all cores at 4.7 with a -125 (lowest I can go) so I have to drop back to 4.5

I'm wondering if the delid service would get me closer to 4.7?

I bought 3 9900k delided 5ghz binned and all have been fantastic, gave one to a friend one for my desktop and one for my 51m. Great company and service.
And you can always delid one yourself there is a ton of guides on youtube. either way you choose, I think its worth the cost and effort.

right now I am using Noctua NT-H2 and so far its decent, I have tried TG, Phobya Extreme and they are similar as well, I have a habit of buying every new thermal paste and playing. But I avg highest temp of 85 all cores at 5ghz and running cinebench 20 3 times in a row on max fans.
But like everything you just have to play with UV various paste and see what works the best for you but deliding does help.

Awesome! Yes please when get your tag let me know your panel.
I think your suspicions might be correct about the new "Eyesafe" marketing.
Knowing your panel would lead more to that conclusion. :)

Does anyone know anything about EYESAFE?
I wonder if it affects color reproduction. :S

One way I found to clear this was to go into Device Manager, completely uninstall the device, reboot and allow the device to be rediscovered automatically by the system. you can then choose whether the default driver suits you or update it as needed. But this clears a lot of issues where a device has become corrupted in some way. Takes 2 minutes and would be a first step before going to check on more advanced troubleshooting.

Not expecting "news" but has anyone with an ear to the vine heard word on the 4K panel that was supposed to be "coming"?

For those of you who like to stick to Dell Drivers, Dell has just release a new nVIDIA Driver for the Alienware m15 R2 but surprisingly it installs on the Area-51m unlike previous drivers.

    nVIDIA GeForce Driver 430.91

    I got 410 extra 3DMarks in Firestrike over Dell's Area-51m 425.46 nVIDIA Driver.

I mean it was posted around May 17. Mar. So expect it will come when the refresh is out middle or late fall. But who want spend $800-1000 on this upgrade for their soon 1 years old Area when it's out? Not cheap with the new panel design.

yeah go ahead and jinx us

J/K, this is probably due to Dell enforcing the update to the new BIOS both via the Alienware update app and via Windows Update which in turn lowers the throttling point of the system which leads to less of no fried machines

Seen this? Hope Dell won’t go as far as this mess. Bro @Mr. Fox couldn’t handle this anymore! Probably the worst screw up in notebook history http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/780m-sli-throttle-m18xr2.829574/#post-1092981

As you can see... The other brands models didn’t run into same mess.

Obviously I'm not sure of the cost of a panel that does not exist yet, but for reference the current FHD 144hz G-Sync panel (entire lid assembly etc) costs $396.
As of now it there not appear to be a 17.3" UHD panel currently in production that has a higher refresh rate than 60Hz.
I'm also not entirely sure if there is even a 60Hz with the narrow bezel form factor. (haven't cross referenced the dimensions yet).

Maybe a new one? Area-51m, wont turn on
You mean Dell have lowered the prices now as there is some time since they released this model? I mean I have seen some said the entire lid assembly etc costs a lot more than $396.

you sure you aren't confusing throttle point with thermal limit? that's the only thing close to that i can see you can adjust with AWCC. setting thermal limit at 87c wouldn't adjust throttle point any higher since that is the default value and the highest value you can set for thermal limit on AWCC...

We have responded to your ticket regarding the assurances you seek.

Dell replaced your screen, so we will need to bring it back to confirm whether they replaced it with the wrong one. If it requires a screen replacement we will do it this time and have it back in your hands within a week. We will address the flickering issue at the same time.

I don't think there are any 17.3", 120Hz+, UHD panels, "slim" bezel or not.

However I did read somewhere, probably on the AUO web site, that they are working on a new technology which allows for narrow bezels, so it may be "coming" soon ?

Sounds good, I go back to work for 10 days 6 am to 6pm so I won't have time to send it In until the 18th. I appreciate you reaching out.

Weird part is this is a new machine I received and the system code on dells website says it should be G sync.

has anyone had any issues with external displays and OpenGL based programs?
I've ordered a area51, and didn't realise it has a integrated intel g630 gpu, which is what i'm trying to avoid. I currently have an asus rog strix scar 2, and its been nothing but problems with external monitors.

do the external display ports, run directly off the GPU (2060/2070/2080) ?
and the intel 630 used for portability when using the laptop moitor only ?
