I had my fair share of problems when I got my M15x in 2010. I had issues that ranged from overheating and laptop shutting off on google chrome to dust accumulating inside the screen. I had numerous visits from the tech support to fix random issues with the laptop. Fast forward to 2013, I got fed up with the laptop and got a Macbook Pro 15 inch Late 2013. Its approaching 7 years now and still runs perfectly fine. Just slow at things here and there due to dated hardware but I never had a single issue with it. I also have the Area 51m R2 which I got recently. If this Alienware will last me for 7 years, I would probably eat my hat. I know it wont be great for gaming 7 years from now but just running day to day tasks.

That's apples and oranges. Of course if you don't put a powerful GPU in a laptop and throttle the CPU liberally, the laptop will run longer. My AW 15 R2 is 5 yeaes old and going strong, although I have a sneaking suspicion the m15 won't last that long due to ongoing fan sensor quirks.

Any idea how to flash the old bios (pre- locked undervolting). I messed up and did the dell updates when I was trying to fix the stuttering issue I had.
Rollback does not work for me. Says something along the lines of image not available, or something like that.

Dell responded with we only replace with same model like for like, what first replacement was for m17 r1 and even though they were still available they replaced it with m17 r2, but now has to be the same. Sometimes I wonder does Dell even know or have control of their own replacement policy anymore.

There was a report here of Dell replacing an m17 for a 51M. Also, they claimed to me personally they only provide brand new replacement units, which we know is not the case.

Well I said no again and they returned me back to tech support and said they would help me now. I only asked for similar specifications and priced area 51m or even gave option for m17 r3, and no back to tech support, at this point I just want my money back, I already bought an area 51m r2 thanks again pathfindercod, so I don't need another.

Since windows still didn't give me the update for 2004 / 2009 (currently still running on 1909), I was wondering if perhaps dell is holding back this update?
On my Alienware 13 R3 I got the 2004 update quite a few months ago, I was wondering if anyone here already did update to 2004 / 2009.
If so, are there any issues?

I received my m15 R2 as a gift and while it plays all my games well, it gets hot and the fan noise is very loud. Connected it to my eGPU that I use with the MBP 16 and it's perfectly silent as long as all my games play on the external 4K monitor.

I am looking for Alienware RTX 2070 Max-Q VBIOS.

My 2070's core clocks are limited to go only up to 1080 MHz, under load or idle. If anyone has any idea what might cause the problem, please let me know, I've tried everything. My potential solution is to try to flash VBIOS, if anyone has had a similar issue I would like to hear!

Coincidentally I have updated to 1.7.1 BIOS from 1.6.0, trying to fix my GPU issue. It didn't fix it, but the BIOS runs fine without any issues.

    Hello.

I have BIOS 1.7.1 and it seems running well.
However not sure about CPU undervolting.

    I'm attaching 2080 MaxQ BIOS 90.04.52.00.31.

Is it normal that the OLED display looks like it blinks (flickers) sometimes / changes the brightness a bit "randomly" ?

Do you think the RAM can be resoldered by some professional to 32 GB ?

I could give you the VBIOS from my m15 r1. That's my values under load (gaming ac valhalla):

Without a HWinfo screenshot it is hard to help you. Maybe the repaste guide will help. Undervolting is possible with a BIOS downgrade.

That would be appreciated, please do!
Do you think repasting will unlock GPU core clocks?
You're right, undervolting is restricted, but also downgrading BIOS is restricted after version 1.5.2 it seems.

Here's HWInfo screenshot while idle, tell me if you need to see anything else:

HWInfo under load while playing Escape From Tarkov:

Notice how there is constant utilization limit 1 - I've read that it is a bug that sometimes occurs when you OC too hard and it does the reset to base clocks thing, but messes up the utilization limit. They said that to fix that it's pretty simple - just reinstall drivers, or disable & enable the GPU in Device Manager. Did that, but didn't work for me.
I have made a thread on this forum regarding the issue here.

What's your CPU package power in idle? Over 20w GPU power in idle is strange. These are my values in idle without uv: (browsing, music, ms-office) 6w on CPU avg and 10w on GPU

    idle m15 R1.jpg

What's your fan-profil under load, cpu-power, cpu temps etc? How long goes you log? Your logs don't say much. 22w GPU Power under load are very few. Normally 90w would be the powerlimit like in my first HWlog.

You're right the logs weren't that good. I tried flashing VBIOS but no success.
    Here's a better log idle:
