Looks like I got exactly the same laptop as you :)

Part of what did it for me is that I am literally paying within $100 of the same price as my 13 was spec'd at but getting more battery, CPU, GPU, screen, SSD, a storage HDD, etc. The cooling is likely a little larger but I am not expecting a large delta there. Perhaps it was due to the OLED screen, but the 13 is just too expensive for what you get in my opinion.

For those interested, the attached shows the different models and their relative sizes plus the Razer Blade that I currently have and some high level specs.

    11-24-2016 9-05-29 PM.png

I will also mention that there is a sizable gap between the 1060 and 1070 which made the 15 with the 1070 around the same price very appealing. For this I refer to the always helpful Wikipedia ;)

Yeah I was eyeing the 13, but decided to go for the 15 for pretty much all those same reasons. I was thinking of going for the 17, but I didn't want to lug around another 17" laptop. Lol

Once again we agree :) I think my 17/18" laptop days are behind me - no reason when I have the desktop I have (4770k and SLI GTX 980 Ti)

i ordered the version with 8gb/256gb ssd on the phone.
if i end up liking it i can probably just add a 960 pro 1tb and some better ram (not sure i need more than 8gb tho)
sales rep saved me some money too

Its now showing as in production but also a Walsh western link for shipping. I expect it is sat ready to be picked up in their warehouse as they always seem to post the shipping link long before it is collected for shipping

I ordered my first one at a similar time, I ordered another yesterday a lot cheaper with the 12% off coupon and will send one back. Both went into production last night so I expect there were waiting on a shipment of parts before completing the orders.

My first order was due 25/11/12 and then pushed to the 6th like you but I am sure we will see them by the end of next week (as it normally takes 4-5 days in transit)

I was gonna reorder at 12% off but it only saved me £30. Cba to push my order back for a few more days. It be 4 weeks on Monday since I've sold my laptop.
Eugh! 2 more weeks to go.

I think most, if not all, of those orders are UK which had an earlier EDD. I wouldn't sweat it much as I think this is a good sign for all of us.

Hey! I got IKANO visa witch gives 5% kickback on all electronics in November. Got an additional 10% by contacting dell on facebook. Now you can do even better with the save12 code and a Visa card like mine.

I had a 15 with the 99wh battery and it was very heavy and had a large footprint. If portability is what you are after, then I would suggest the 13 all the way.

Today got a strange answer from dell regarding the *pre production phase*. Have phoned them 3 days ago.

The Dell person says that they do not have the graphics card in stock and it could last until mid of december.

Well i don't trust this infomation because many of us went into production today. Very interesting how Dell works and how they share information...

I guess the right hand doesn't know what the left does.

My EDD is still the 28th, but I don't see that as being possible anymore. I know one person in the UK had the 25th for some reason, but other than that I don't know anyone with an earlier EDD than the 28th.

    What spec did you order?

I ordered my first when orders first opened in the UK and I ordered my second Thursday evening. Both have been shipped! I don't understand why yours hasn't unless you have a part that is out of stock.
    I ordered:
    OLED/6700/32GB/256GB & OLED/6700/8GB/180GB

The first is 6/12/16 and the second is 9/12/16

The 13 r3 has two m.2 slots. I also believe both can do either pcie or sata. I will test when mine arrives

Only one of them (slot 0 I believe) supports NVMe PCIe. And as far as I know, you cannot RAID them.

I'll have to double check the owner's manual, but I remember reading this somewhere.

i was wondering why i never got my conformation email last night so i called up dell and they sent it to the wrong email address ._.
so the native English speaker from Canada got it wrong, but the super nice non native English speaker from India got it right. for all those of us who thought all the outsourcing help was bad

anyways now i can confirm my price. paid $1705.07 after tax for the oled 256gb model. pretty happy with that. assuming they send the right model and not last years (not too impressed with dell's success rate)

    Estimated Delivery Date: 12/5/2016 - 12/13/2016

theyre both pcie, theyve already checked on youtube

also check with the reseller like hidevelution. theyre advertising the 2tb 960 pros with the 13s, so theres a possibility you be able to have 4TB in the alienware 13

i called to ask if i could still get the 10% they activated today. big mistake
instead of just crediting me they canceled my order, to re-ordering it.
so now i have to wait for the pending charge to drop of my card from the cancelled order then reorder. by then the laptop will probably more expensive

lol ... not "re paste it at once" surely you will give it a good thrashing first to get the proper stock temps and make sure there is no underlying faults before a full strip down?

u never know you could get a golden sample thats 60c at load ...... yeah right...

cool, just a tip though take it or leave it , but i wouldnt use respawn I always had much better results and way fast using macrium reflect (free for home use) No adware

just pop the nvme into the spare slot, run macrium, choose clone drive, making sure to check the box where it extends the main partition to use all the new drive space when it done shut down, remove you old 256gb and reboot job done should take more than 20 mins all in.

Thx for the tip! I thought respawn also could make a win 10 clean USB drive, so I could install a clean copy of win 10. If not I feel scammed by dell haha...

I second this. Or just backup the recovery partition. And then boot it on to bare drive. I've got my 1tb nvme and it's going to go straight in after one of the two choices I said. But more likely the latter if recovery partition is there.

your right it can but then again so can windows........ i think we've all been scammed by dell one way or another

in fact you can just make a bootable copy of windows straight from the microsoft site using the win 10 tool... https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

with macrium it just clones perfectly no messing then remove old C drive reboot and it's like nothing changed except the drive is now 4x bigger...

macrium is just awesome though, once you have used it there's no turning back .... imho

I've bought the toshiba xg3. I keep hearing it likening to the pm951. But it's not even close to the xg3 especially in 1tb cos it's slower than it's 512gb brethren. The sm951 is on par though.
The 960s are available (and 961s) they even have a 2tb nvme 960. I saw it last night. But back away from the price

@sisqo_uk after reading your post, I did some reading and it did look like a decent option, then I went to newegg.com and the 1TB is 700 USD, compare to the Samsung 960 Evo 1TB is 500 USD.

This review says the EVO performs on par with xg3.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/10833/the-samsung-960-evo-1tb-review/10

Am I missing something on the toshiba?

I'm sure someone has asked this question, but does the 8GB model use a single 8GB ram stick or two 4GB sticks? I'm thinking of buying the 8GB model and then upgrading it myself to 16GB hoping it'll be cheaper

With that said, is there an issue if you put in a different 8GB stick? Or is it fine as long as the stats match (i.e. 8GB DDR4 2400)?

My order has shipped today (OLED, UK). The tracking id shows eta as 8th Dec. People are reporting about 4 days from ship date for actual delivery time, so hopefully will have it on the 1st Dec next Thursday.

Re the ram interoperability, in my experiance, even rams with the same frequency 2400vs2400 can have different timings (ie 9-9-9-24 vs 8-8-8-24). While having 2 sticks with same frequency but differnt timings may work (depends on motherboard) the timings will likely scale down to the lowest spec so the sticks will run at the same timings, negating the advantage of one of the sticks. And then it may not be stable. Best practise is to have 2 identical sticks.
A better explanation on this i found in the below link.

Edit: - heres another link on the topic that thows latency into the mix.
