Guys I like to position my laptop vertically to get an easy -7degC boost due to the enhanced heat flow.

I worry that LM will flow and leak while CPU and GPU are running hot.

    What do you think?

It is a legitimate concern, and you are wise to be thinking about it. Being haphazard about anything will almost always end badly. But, you can take steps to eliminate that possibility. You can use a foam dam to contain any liquid metal that might drip off the contact surfaces. Liquid metal is completely safe and very reliable when used properly and intelligently. It works well when things fit together properly. It works poorly when they do not. Sometimes people have a bad experience with liquid metal because the system they are attempting to use it on is manufactured and engineered poorly and everything goes together like a sloppy mess.

@Mr. Fox Constructing a foam dam around is a great idea! Thanks

You're welcome. There are quite a few videos in my YouTube channel and some of them may be useful to you. Here is an example of using foam dams. They have to be very thin, super soft and compressible, or they will interfere with heat sink contact. You can also use other materials, including a thick thermal paste or a bead of RTV silicon surrounding the contact area. (You have to put something over the silicon to keep it from gluing the heat sink down, like a thin layer of plastic.)

Liked and subscribed. Well deserved since I see now you have a lot more cool stuff on your channel than 3 years ago. It's a pity you don't have that many subscribers though.

Thanks. I appreciate that, bro. I haven't really promoted it that much. Most of what I have uploaded has been for the benefit of this community in one way or another. The things that I am most passionate about are often not understood by gamers and do not appeal to a large audience.

Buy the galinstan if it's the 30g tube for $20 dollars. You will need to buy your own syringe and cap to put it into an easy to apply container.

Would rather buy this instead of overpriced conductonaut.

30 grams of Galinstan for $20.
Unfortunately it's out of stock. I still have quite a bit left of my 30g vial.

Theres a 10 gram one but the shipping is $10 for a $7 purchase...

Still better, $17 for 10 grams compared to $15 for ONE gram of conductonaut.

There is an excellent youtube engineering channel that will tackle thermal paste in the coming weeks. This guy is a fantastic hybrid scientist-engineer but nobody quite knows what his day job is. Check out the channel
