    Hello,

I want to get myself a new notebook. I already had a Thinkpad T420 but I was not satisfied with it. The case was not sturdy at some points and the keyboard felt a little squishy when typing. Plus it had an awful smell on it.
Now after searching the whole day I came across a Notebookcheck Review on the Dell Latitude E6430 which was very positive.
On the Dell shop I choosed the following configuration:

    • Core i5-3340M 2.7 GHz processor
    • Intel HD Graphics 4000 IGP
    • 14'' HD LED Display with 1600 x 900 resolution
    • 4 GB 1600 MHz memory
    • 500 GB 7500 rpm hard drive
    • Windows 7 Professional x64

The price is about € 830 which is great for this one I think. The review I mentioned pointed out the good build quality, the weight and the battery life. Amongst these things a display with a higher resolution than 1366 x 768 is very important for me.

But still I want to hear your opinions on that. Whats the experience of those of you, who own this notebook? The review mentioned that the fan is always recognizable. Is it very disturbing? And what about the noise and temperature under heavy load? I want to use it for programming and I am also running Virtual Machines (Windows 7, 8 and Windows Server 2008 R2) on it. I don't know how much load this will produce on that Notebook.
Is the noise when typing acceptable? The guy from Notebookcheck mentioned a clattery typing sound. And finally, what do you think about the display qualitiy? I don't really care for poor viewing angles, as I always sitting straight in front of it. My previous notebook had very poor viewing angles, but it was never an issue. But it was not really bright and it had a noticable screen-door effect. I know I cannot expect the quality of a IPS display, but I hope it is still good to work with.

I think thats all. I am really curious about your optinions. After a long search this notebook looks like something I want to work with the next few years.

    Thanks for your time
