Honestly to me the core design philosophy looks the same. I get that the E7440 will get some of the business features like fingerprint reader and what not, but the carbon fiber feel on the XPS 13 isn't bad on it's own.

Am I the only person who thinks that the E7440 is just a substitute to the consumer XPS 13? Especially as there was no refresh for the 13inch and that Dell was pushing hard to make the machine more business friendly. Hmm..

I am not sure if there will be significant performance difference that users can notice. Since they are both ultrabooks. Build quality?

Well, it supports standard E-series docking stations, uses standard RAM and SSDs, has a removeable battery, has a smartcard reader, and has a full-size HDMI port, so it is nothing like the XPS 13.

These features are things that business users care about, and I immediately regretted having ordered an ThinkPad X1 Carbon through the corporate account when I heard about the E7440...

I've had an orignal XPS 13, an inspiron e1405, and a latitude e6410. Im not a business user, just a consumer with business-like preferences, but those are all features that appeal to me. If the 7440 had a better GPU I wouldnt be waiting for a precision m4800 to come out.
