I have bought a new laptop and am trying to clean up my old one, so I can give it to my mum.

My old laptop is a Latitude E6400. And am trying to reinstall with XP SP3. There are 2 hard drives, and a DVD drive.

The DVD drive is playing up, so I decided to copy the contents of the disc to the D hard drive. And ran the setup from there.

Now, when I restart the computer, it goes straight into the Windows setup routine, and I get nvrd32.sys missing error. Googling says I should get the file and press F6 and insert the disk in the A drive. I probably could find the file if I tried hard enough, but I don't have an A drive.

    What do I do?

I can't even go back and relaunch a safe Windows, as it goes straight into the setup, and there's no boot option to choose between launching XP Pro and XP Pro setup.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance.
