    Hi

I am planning to buy dell E6400 (14.1 inch display).
Not sure whether to get WXGA or WXGA+ display. If I get a WXGA+ display, will I be able to set the graphics resolution to 1280x800 and if yes, will the display work as good as i have WXGA display. Please help me out. My basic requirement is to get the one that has minimun stress to the eyes.

Also, shall I go with discrete or integrated graphics with this laptop? Does having discrete graphic card causes more heat as compared to the integrated one. I Wont be playing much games on this.

    Thanks in advance.

With an LCD display, setting the resolution at anything less than native resolution will make things appear slightly fuzzy or out of proportion sometimes. You can change the size of text and things with the DPI settings, which retains the native resolution but enlarges text. Unfortunately not all programs are fully functional with this, i.e. text might appear to go off screen or not be fully readable. For most mainstream applications it might be fine.

The question of which resolution display should you go for is one that gets asked time and time again and one that I'm afraid there simply is no correct answer to. It all depends on your own personal preference as to whether you are happy with one resolution over the other.

I use both WXGA and WXGA+ & with discrete graphic and integrated graphic E6400. I don't see much difference between them. Discrete graphic and integrated graphic only score slightly different on Vista Experience Index.
