My CPU has went up to 183F (83.8C) while playing a super old game Diablo II.
Idle its about 140F, which is a bit odd because of the other temperatures are idling around 120F and capping out at 150F.

Is this normal? What temperatures are you guys getting?

I play Diablo 2 LOD and come out of the game with the video card in the 62 deg C. and the CPU reading low 50's.

Meh after using compressed air, CPU is still pretty hot. 70+ C(160~ F) while GPU remains quite cool.

What kind of laptop is it as you didn't say i.e CPU, video card, 5400 or 7200rpm drive? What OS are you running? If it's Vista how many processes are running? Also is the environment fairly hot where your at? If Vista what power option did you select?

Those temps do sound a bit on the high side. My Vostro 1500 runs fairly cool but I do very light gaming. It's possible that after checking everything out and if your temps are still high, the thermal paste on the heatsink might not be doing it's job correctly. If it's still under warranty I would call Dell and have them check it for high temps. ;)

edit: My bad I just saw your sig. It's a 1500.

How are you reading these temps?

What you are describing sounds like you are getting the GPU and CPU temps mixed up.

I'm using i8kfangui. The temperatures aren't getting mixed up, I'm sure of it. Not sure why my GPU is so cooled compared to my CPU. I'm using Vista with 57 processes atm (Firefox, aim, vmware, mirc, etc)

Got warranty to replace it (Ugh had to do 2 returns). Still seems to be the same problem. Are you guys using i8kfangui too?

Perhaps the sensor index is incorrect? Can someone post theirs?
