    Hi,

I will be receiving my Latitude 6430u soon, and I want to do a clean install of either Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8 Pro (laptop comes with Windows 7 Professional). I'm preparing the drivers I need to use for this clean install. Can anyone tell me what the real difference is between the ZipPack drivers (listed as format 'Hard-Drive') vs the Dell Update Package drivers (listed as format 'Update Package for Windows'). In almost all cases I have a DUP available, and in most cases both a ZipPack/ZPE and DUP, and sometimes only a DUP.

Which one should I use for a clean install? I'm leaning towards the DUP, as certain drivers are available as a DUP only. As far as I could tell, on a Virtual Machine, this will do a clean install of the driver, and also check pre-requisites to make sure the driver is suitable for the system.

So - Dell Update Packages or the ZipPacks/ZPEs for a clean install?

Someone from Dell suggested to use the ZipPacks, but certain drivers (Wireless, Dell Feature Pack) don't even come as a ZipPack.

    Thanks.
