Just downloaded some fresh x64 Windows 7 drivers for my m4400 along with a new BIOS revision.

I upgraded the BIOS from A11 to A15 and so far my gpu is running about 5 degrees celsius hotter just at idle! :/

    Compared too?
If you used XP, than that is 100% normal. XP uses the CPU render the interface. Win7/Vista is smarter GPU.

Also, you also have this, that will be coming soon:
    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2009/08/25/nvidia-releases-windows-7-direct-compute-dr/1

Did you download the latest drivers from Nvidia website?

Moreover, there was a remark by someone that the fan kicks in with few degrees higher than before. A15 BIOS is not out on all Dell driver support regions. (In Canada, I have the download link, but I get 404 error - page not found).

Anyway, as long as your GPU is under 100C you are good.

If you used XP, than that is 100% normal. XP uses the CPU render the interface. Win7/Vista is smarter, it uses the GPU to render graphics as its supposed to be like that.

And if you have the Nvidia solution, you also have this, that will be coming soon:

Oh, and don't forget that you lack A LOT of official drivers for your devices for Win7, heck on my Latitude E6400, I lost 1 hours and half battery, because the CPU doesn't want to down clock like under Vista 64-bit to ~800MHz, the lowest it can go is ~1500MHz, moreover, I am not even convince that the wireless switch on the laptop actually turns off the wireless card.

Compared to Win7, all I did was upgrade the BIOS from A11 to A15. My average before was 55, now it sits around 60.

My temps didn't change going from Vista to 7.

I am running the latest driver for the 770.

I think it's just because of the ambient temperature. It's only 5C it's truly nothing.
