    Specifically ERICSSON WWAN F5521GW/HP HS2340, HP 632155-001

Which is the model equivocation to the DW5550.

Is there a whitelist in the e-series BIOS that would prevent the HP part from working?

Anyone used an HP WWAN card in their system? Or for that matter, and HP marked WLAN (one of the intel 6300) cards?

I'm not certain, i know Lenovo cards won't work in non Lenovos, it could be the same for certain HP hardware. I know HP whitelists their stuff, but if they do like Lenovo, the pin arrangement on the mPCI-E connector could actually be different too.

If you have a HP with those parts lying around, then by all means, try it, but otherwise, i'd look into buying the generic adapters. The 6300 is dirt cheap these days anyways (well at least in the US).

    Hi,

Since this is a combination that is not tested, it is difficult to answer that question. As ‘tijo’ suggested you may try it if you have the part handy. If you do so, you will have to install the driver that is released by HP. As per my knowledge, if we try to install a Dell driver on a non-Dell machine it gives compatibility error messages. It may be the same case with HP.

    Thanks and regards,

Generic WLAN cards may cause the WiFi LED to blink with activity. If possible, try to get Dell OEM parts for maximum compatibility. I don't think they are that much more expensive...

^Dell's cards seem to have some connectivity issues. I have nothing but intel cards in my dell PCs and none of the cause the wireless light to blink on or off (6235, 6100, 1030, etc) matter of fact Dell often offers the Intel cards as upgrades to their cards

The OP is asking about a WWAN card, not a WLAN card, they aren't the same, i don't think Intel makes WWAN cards anyways.

Sorry, what I meant was generic Intel WLAN cards vs. Dell OEM Intel WLAN cards. I know the OP was asking about WWAN cards, but this is just an example of how Dell OEM parts have some differences.

Just in case anyone would like to know, the HP version of the intel WLAN 6300 (572511-001) will not work on the e6400. It shows up in windows device manager with a yellow icon saying code 10, device cannot start.

Basically the same issue as Lenovo branded WLAN and WWAN adapters.
