I ordered my Dell E6400 on June 26 and got it July 6.
the hard drive was gettig louder and louder day by day, when i opened windows it sometimes would say "Preparing Desktop" and downgrade my windows to windows 98 or something. And It wouldn't produce audios from my dvds.

after a little cooperation from the tech i had enough.

    I decided to swap.

They promised me it would take 3-5 business days to ship and build, i'm curious....... why does it take half the time to build and ship the replacement.

the original was built in malaysia, so are they rebuilding my replacement in the US?

It's probably (I could be wrong though) a refurbished laptop.

    Could be a refurb.

It also could be new. Replacments are prioritized to the top of the queue at manufacturing.

No waiting in line for a replacement:)

my current one was expedited as well. but i hope that since its a replacement they would take more time building it and inspecting it.

i'm not happy with it though, i thought it was supposed to be durable but everything except for the overhead case feels cheap.

Dell business does not ship refurbished one. It's part of the premium price that you pay.
It could be that when you order your laptop the first time, Dell was out of a certain part and was waiting to receive a new batch. Or it could be that during the week your ordered your laptop there was a big demand (probably several businesses ordered that system in large quantities).

Don't worry, it must be brand new.

Because Dell will put your replacement order in front of others, replacement order usually be first priority in production. and build up a system just takes about 3 hours.
So 3 to 5 business day is not a short time.

Only when you order a refurbished machine in the first place. Then you can only get refurb replacements.
