I usually use my e6400 docked with TWO external monitors.
However, when I undock my desktop is gone.
I have to go into Display Settings and change the 2nd monitor settings so that my desktop is extended onto it and make it my Main Monitor.

Is there any way to set this up so that I dont have to do this every time I undock.

Lastly, are there any differences between the vibrance of colors in Vista Home basic and Vista Business? My colors appear very bland...

You'll need someone with a dock to help you out on this one.

It could be that Vista Basic doesn't support Windows Aero (user interface). However, I doubt that it would affect what your screen looks like in other apps (internet, etc). Are you using the same settings as before? Same/latest graphics drivers?

One other thing that you may want to look at is the manufacturer of your screen. I'm not sure if you have an LED or CCFL, but Dell uses lots of different suppliers for every part. When I received my E6400, I had an LG LED display (WXGA+) that looked excellent, but had a dead pixel. So, I got a replacement, which turned out to be a CMO screen. Flawless in terms of pixels, but I feel like it's duller and less bright. If you have any info about your old E6400s, you could compare the screen types (look under Device Manager).
