I'm from Australia, and it seems I can't buy one unless I'm american or part of a very large corporation.

I had to get my american friend to receive it and pay for it with my money, and now he's shipping it to me. What's the deal?

It's probably just their marketing strategy. Many laptop manufacturers sell certain models to only certain countries. We probably won't know what their exact reason for not selling the Precision line in Australia is, but I'm guessing that Dell thinks there's not a great demand for mobile workstations down under.

I'm in NZ and have bought 4 precision's in the last 5 year's without any problem's.
You must have been talking to one of the special sale's droid's in the malaysian call center....dell has quite a few working for them

Still, you would have got it for a much better price from the US,even after currency conversion.

I honestly don't know how some of the sale's people get and keep their job's that work for them.....they must pay pretty badly or something.

I bought one here in Europe and there are several people on here that bought M4400's in NZ and Aus which were manufactured in malaysia, maybe it's just temporary or something? Did you try calling them to ask?

Did you try to call Dell, Cir? Dell often offers options only if you call them, their website is rather stupid.

Still, the way you did it now may be the cheaper one. I can tell you from my own experience that if you buy outside the US, Dell often wants much more money for the same thing.
