I've dicided to buy a D630, but there are a few things I need to work out.

    1. I want XP pro on it. Should I:

    a. buy an open source one, remove freedos, and do a clean install of Xp pro?

    b. buy it with Xp home and do a clean install of Xp pro?

    c. buy it with Vista business with Xp preinstalled?

    2. If I do a clean install, can I partition the hard drive in the bios? Or is there a lock on it?

    d. Buy it with XP Pro...

    2. Partition the HDD during an install or within the operating system, not the BIOS.

So I should buy it with XP pro and then do a clean install?
I already have a copy of XP pro.

Edit: Isn't it a better deal to get it with XP pro preinstalled and a copy of Vista Business?

Maybe I did not make my post clear.

Will it work if I buy an open-source d630, remove freedos, and install XP pro on it? Or do I have to buy a laptop with a Windows OS installed on it in order me to install XP on it?

After digging around, I found this at this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=190673

Knowing that the N-series is the US equivalent of open-source, I can safely assume that I can replace FreeDos with XP pro on an open-source laptop. I will just buy an open-source D630 now and install it with my copy of XP pro.

Thank you Lithus for all your help...
