Im trying to record some audio using my new Vostro 1510 but I can't seem to select the internal microphone and it allows me use the 3.5mm plug with a external microphone.

I think the microphone is left to the webcam

But there is no selection in the Sound settings.

The microphone is solely for the webcam, I think.

OK, fair enough but in Dell's camera application I can't select the audio source as the internal digital microphone.

Yeah its pretty odd. But I mean the webcam is incorperated so it has to have the digital microphone right next to it as you see it.

I searched device manager for any uninstalled devices but nothing.

    Control Panel>Sound>Recording

If it is not there, then try re-installing the Sigmatel driver.

do u have the audio driver installed for my vostro 1310 i just used the sound recorder to test if it worked. did not work at first so i went into the volume control and moved the slider all the way up to max and it works great. Also if yours is using the realtek sound i would check the realtek control panel as well.

Like said it works but there is nothing there about a microphone.
Any other type of screenshot you can give me help from?
