Most dell notebooks are made in Malaysia and China. The boards themselves likely come from either China or Taiwan.

Where are you located? It seems that Europe-bound Precisions (and Latitudes) are built in Ireland, from parts manufactured worldwide. US and Asia bound Precisions are made in Malaysia. I can't say for sure about South America or Australia, but I'd guess Malaysia for those as well.

Consumer models (Inspiron) are generally made in China.

i got my brand new replacment m4400 in england, so it was from ireland. i bought my original unit in malaysia, hence it was made in malaysia.

the consumer models do seem to come from china for the rest of the world, but malaysia still produces them for the asean market it would seem, since my inspiron 1525 i bought in malaysia was made in malaysia, where else the inspiron15 my friend bought in the UK was made in china.

IIRC, dell is planning to move european production from ireland to poland to save costs

OK. Apparently Dell has facilities in: Nashville, TN; Winston-Salem, NC; Austin, TX; Xiamen, China; Penang, Malaysia; Limerick, Ireland; and Eldorado do Sul, Brazil.

The most recent info I could find was that at the TX and TN facilities, they make Poweredge and stuff like that. The NC facility does desktops for the eastern US. The Brazil facility serves South America. Ireland is for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. I assume the China and Malaysia facilities make desktops and laptops for Asia, Australia (?), and North America.
