    ... nothing happends.
    Why is this? What have I done wrong?

    I have no webcam.
    Model is E6500 8gig ram nvidia graphics intel x-25 160gig W7-ultimate 64

    I have provided an image of the settings.

    Does the computer go to sleep when you press Fn+F1 (the sleep button)? If that works OK then I would wonder if the switch that detects the computer being closed is defective.

    There's a magnet in the bezel that triggers the sleep function. Maybe it has been dislodged or something.

    Also, you can try going into your power plan and looking at the settings there. Sometimes it is different from what you have in that main, simplified dialog.
