I have a Dell Latitude D820.On the side where the switch for the on/off Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.
If you turn the switch the other way it should do a scan and show you any Wi-Fi networks in the area.
I have a clean install of Vista Ult and downloaded the drivers from Dell's web site. But cant find that program.
Anyone know what it is and where to find it on Dell's site?

Probably part of Dell quickset. That's the only software I've ever put on a fresh load of Windows on a Dell, and it always worked for me.

I have the Dell QuickSet installed and working.
I just had a look at the QuickSet and there thats the software i was thinking of.Dell QuickSet Wi-Fi Catcher Network Locator.
But under that setting every thing is grayed out and cant change any settings.
I wonder if it has anything to do with when i changed the Intel A/B/G card it came with to a new non-Dell Intel Wi Fi link 5300 A/B/G/and N card.

Maybe this catcher network locator need a Dell branded card to work.

Not a big deal but just wondering what happened to the program.
    Guess i know now.
Thanks for the tip on looking in the QuickSet.

I used mine with a non-dell Intel 4965 AGN without issues.

Did you check your bios settings?

This is strange....I just looked in the Bios. The Wi-Fi Catcher is on.The 4965 card was a option for the D820 but not the 5300 i have.
When i get a few min's i'm going to put back in the A/B/G card that came with it and see what it does.

    Edit...
I just came across a setting in the Quickset and a message came up saying..."the installed wireless card is not compatible with this program".

I also just tried NetStumbler and that dont work with the card eather.
    Oh well......At least i still get the fast "N" speed.It's showing i'm connecting at 200 + ~ 300 .....
