    I just got a latitude D630C, what is the small square thing below the screen? Just to the left of the Dell print? Thanks.

    im fairly certain its a fingerprint reader, but I dont have a latitude (just most likely)

    Its just under the screen. I dont think its a reader, but it could be. Anyone else?

    If the square was on the palm rest/under the keyboard, then yes. Since its on the screen bezel, its most likely a Ambient light sensor(ALS).

    Look at the user guide(see here on an online manual) for more info about it.
