What are the main differences between the E6500 and the M4400?

Why would someone want to buy one more than the other?

    Thanks for the help!

The M4400 has ISV certified drivers for industrial applications, and that weird (but just as strong) LCD back. The GPU may or may not be a hair more powerful on the M4400, I'm not sure.

If you don't know what ISV certification is, or don't know that you need it, then either laptop is good for you. It comes down to just the price.

Plus, the E6400 has the option for the Intel 4500MHD GPU...which will increase your overall battery life.

So for most of us, it comes down to a difference in price and/or battery life. Little else is different at all.

The E6400 is a 14 inch machine. The M4400 is a 15 inch machine. I dunno about you guys, but that's a big difference to me :)

I thought he was talking about the M4200, which is the 14" Precision model :).

    @Greg: I'm sure you meant the M2400 :D

Anyway, I think the FX 770M in the M4400 is a lot more powerful than the NVS 160M since it's 128-bit and features GDDR3 VRAM. Of course, it also consumes more power and possibly runs hotter.

    You're right!! Sorry, I mean E6500!

    Well or M4200 (that I didn't know!) vs E6400!

Yeah and I think the FX770M is GDDR3 512MB dedicated as well, and it's made for 2D and 3D apps as opposed the NVS which doesn't perform as well on 3D apps.

Last week, if you configured the E6500 to the same M4400 in my signature, it costs tons more as well.

These 2 computers can be called the same at times, in my parts list for my M order, it has Latitude E parts. You really have to think about which one is worth more to you, as the differences are very subtle. But the pricing is so darn close to each other that I just chose the M for the better GPU card, which is more worth it in the future for me, as I'm in engineering, graphic design and a gamer.

    So it's all personal.

They seem to be so similar (knowing that I'm not a gamer and will probably go for the integrated GPU) that I think I'll choose the one that looks prettier! :p

And that will probably be the E6400 (or E6500).

    Thanks for the help eveybody...

Once gaming is out of the equation, there is NO reason to get the nVidia GPU IMHO.

Intel's card will do very nice as far as heat and battery life go. And as soon as I get my E6400 we'll be hosting a 2nd review of the laptop, and the first review of the 4500MHD.
