I saw this on the Dell website today but can't seem to find a review anywhere. Does anyone have any comments or knowledge of this laptop?

    Thanks,

The E5000 series are somewhat obscure models, so there probably aren't going to be any reviews for a while. For the most part, they should lie somewhere between a Vostro and an E6000 unit; build quality looks like it should be close to that of the E6000 series, but specs are similar to that of the current Vostro lineup in that Dell uses the older Santa Rosa platform in the E5000 units. They're also significantly heavier than the E6000 series.

The E5000 are reduced-featured versions of the E6000 series. They are heavier, and from what I can tell do NOT have docking ability.

Point taken. I haven't found any references to docking in the E5x00 product pages, maybe I should look again :).

Seems like the E5x00 series is a mix of quality between the E6x00 and the Studio machines .

The E5xxx have a magnesium alloy chassis but plastic panels, correct?

I can't see Dell not having these able to dock. It would be maddness.

I'd bet a build quality slightly less than the D series.
