So I am going to take the plunge and upgrade the OS to 64-bit, but I realized that I do not have the driver/software discs with the computer. I was curious mostly about the webcam software, as it seems the ALPS drivers and others are all available from Dell's website. The webcam drivers are there, but the nifty webcam central does not seem to be on there.

Does anyone know of a place to get the software, or can Dell send me a disc with it? Never done clean install of an OS on a laptop before.

I know there is a way to get it off the Dell website, but every time I try the link for the auto service tag locator, it fails. It looks like the service tag is not actually in the Windows registry. It has a service tag on the bottom, but when I enter that manually it's for a totally different Dell computer, an Inspiron 620 I think.

    Majisto,

You can download the WebCam Central Software from the link below. There is also a Dell WebCam YouTube video link below that provides a Driver link as well as a link to download the WebCam Central Software

I figured it out. After trying the my Dell Downloads website forever, it never was able to register my service tag. For some reason, it says this service tag is not registered to this region? Need to get that looked into, because when I manually put in the tag it is to the wrong Dell model completely.

The solution was that when you perform the auto-update of the software through Creative, it actually downloads the entire self-extracting .exe install file into the Creative cache folder. I copied it onto my USB stick, and installed it on the now 64-bit OS with no problems. The software you find out on the internet is always the old 1.x version, and the 2.x is a much better UI to me. So, if the Dell Downloads website works for you, that's great, but this is another solution for people who want to do a fresh install of Windows.

The link you provided is not for the most recent version of dell webcam central. It's for version 1.40.05, which is an old version that is no longer being updated. Please provide a link for version 2.x.
