I am left handed, and I own a vostro 1500. I do, however use my right hand for the mouse when I have a mouse plugged in. Using your left hand for the touch pad is extremely comfortable, and I use my laptop w/o an external mouse 80% of the time.

Short of getting your drink warm (being left handed I tend to leave it on the left side of my computer, there are no drawbacks to where the vent is. Where else could it be? I can't think of a better spot really.

My suggestion is learn to use the mouse with your right hand and save yourself a bunch of grief... and pain from what it sounds like.

I think in the end there are much more important left handed issues to be worried about like those pesky lecture hall seats that have a desk smaller than a sheet of paper, and right next to my right hand. Wonderful, I might as well bend over backwards and write behind me.

Or when you go to a bowling alley. have never in my life seen a left handed ball at a bowling alley. I blame that for the fact I can't score higher than 62

As nizzy said "I don't think you make valid arguements. These are pretty much how ALL laptops are." Just move your drink problem solved. Its really not that hard or by a usb fridge if you care so much that your drink is cold

No real reason not to buy the laptop. Right handed uses get annoyances too, example the dvd drive is on the right side when it pops out it hits my hand, yes its annoying but thats life learn to deal with not having everything order made to perfection for you. ;)

The DVD drive popping open is by far the most annoying thing. This happens to me daily, and it is driving me up a wall.

When sitting at a table, my mouse is usually towards the back part of my laptop, so I can see how the air would bug you. I tend to use my laptop on my lap, sitting in bed, and I'd take air blowing then the horrible heat I used to endure with my last laptop.
