This is becoming anoying... the ac plug on the back of my vostro 1500 seems to just slide out by itself.. you just move the laptop a bit, out goes the plug ...

Is this a common issue with other Vostro users? Is there a fix?

    tks

That's most certainly not normal for any laptop. It means that your power jack is loose and you should pester Dell to so something about it. If you're handy with a soldering iron, you can probably buy a new jack from wherever, unsolder the old jack and re-solder the new jack. Otherwise you'll probably have to replace the motherboard, since I don't think Dell technicians do any soldering...

Man what a pain in the ssa(spelled backwards, :) )...

If Dell would agree to fixing it, could I just ask them to send me the mother board and replace it myself? I did that with the cd drive earlier this year, but I don't know how easy the motherboard is or if they woud send it to me... I just can't afford to be w/o the laptop for a week+++ or so ...sending it, getting it returned
