    I recently bought the vostro v131 and noticed this intermittent issue of screen distortion/tearing (I'm not really sure on what the formal name or term is) and was wondering if this was a common issue for other people that may have bought this machine with ubuntu instead of windows.

    I'm curious as to what the formal name for the issue is and if it is a hardware or software issue. Using the terms screen tearing I didn't find much on the issue.

    Screenshot is in the link below. The issue is at the bottom where there looks like coloured static where the row and character numbers are listed and the horizontal jagged bar above it.
