I'm not aware of any brick-and-mortar retailers that carry the U330, which is part of the reason many folks don't know it exists. It's too bad that Lenovo doesn't have a hassle-free return policy (they always charge 15% restocking fee). So no test drives without paying a price if you send it back!

I think it's a great deal, particularly because of the WXGA+ (1440x900) display. For $649, you get the display, nVIDIA 8400M GS graphics card, 1.8GHz T5670, Vista Biz/XP Pro and a 250GB 7200rpm hard drive. Tough to beat that.

    For another $100 ($749), it adds the 2.0GHz T5870, 320GB 5400rpm hard drive and 4GB of RAM.

I'd take it easy on the extras, they could elevate the price into Latitude territory. But the two configs above are awesome deals.

And the Red/Black design is really sharp, in my opinion! Then again, I'm a UGA grad...

Would that be based on the dull-as-dishwater Inspiron 1545?

Actually, I kinda think that the 1545 was based on the Vostro A860....which was originally intended for "emerging and developing markets" (3rd world countries)! :D
