    Hi.

I was hoping to take out my 1080p stock screen from my E6520 and put it into a Vostro 3550, in place of it's 720p screen.

Then, I was hoping to buy the 95% gamut (or B+RG) 15" 1080p matte panel and put it into my E6520.

Would this be possible, or would I need significantly different cables, to the point where I would not be able to perform the swap anymore?

    Thanks!

Nope, the existing LCD cable on the Vostro 3550 won't support a 1080p screen. Since the laptop is not offered with a 1080p option, no such cable exists.

I never recommend upgrading LCDs, it's rarely worth it...not to mention, in your case, I don't think it's even going to be possible.
