It looks like Dell just released on their UK site a new Vostro laptop called the A860. I'm surprised because I haven't heard anything about this before launch and the lack of mention on the boards.

It seems that they come pre-configured, which means the choice to configure the specs is pretty much limited to what they have offered already.

IMO-They look much better than the standard Vostros :)[/QUOTE]

I agree, I'm wondering when they'll be released here...

I know, that's what puzzled me too. Maybe Dell UK begged for a "lower cost" vostro (like our 1000 series-They don't have that over there.)

This is on the Small Business Site in the US now. 15.6" screen, 16:9 aspect ratio. Apparently emerging markets were in need of an HD-style screen, LOL. Only 1366x768 resolution though.

It didn't have much in the way of options. The 15.6'' screen caught my eye but for the most part I don't like it as much as the older Vostro 1000. The Vostros never were the greatest for competing price-wise with the "cheapest possible" theory though. The Vostro 1000 was alright in my book however.

I'm still mad that Dell hasn't put out a true successor to the Vostro 1400 (and I'm glad that I got mine when I did)
