You won't find models of mainstream brands such as Dell being on the ODM websites anymore. They are all one-off designs now.

You can put a socket P processor in there.

    Pentium Dual Core T2130 - 1.47 GHz, 1 Mb, 533 MHz, P
    Pentium Dual Core T2330 - 1.6 GHz, 1 Mb, 533 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5250 - 1.5 GHz, 2 Mb, 667 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5270 - 1.4 GHz, 2 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Pentium Dual Core T2370 - 1.73 GHz, 1 Mb, 533 MHz, P
    Pentium Dual Core T2390 - 1.86GHz, 1Mb, 533MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5450 - 1.67 GHz, 2 Mb, 667 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5470 - 1.6 GHz, 2 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5550 - 1.83GHz, 2Mb, 667 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5670 - 1.8 GHz, 2 Mb, 800MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5750 - 2.0 GHz, 2 Mb, 667 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5850 - 2.17 GHz, 2 Mb, 800MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T5870 - 2.0 GHz, 2 Mb, 800MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7100 - 1.8 GHz, 2 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7250 - 2.0 GHz, 2 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7300 - 2.0 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T8100 - 2.1 GHz, 3 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7500 - 2.2 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7700 - 2.4 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T8300 - 2.4 GHz, 3 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T7800 - 2.6 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Extreme X7800 - 2.6 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T9300 - 2.5 GHz, 6 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Extreme X7900 - 2.8 GHz, 4 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Duo T9500 - 2.6 GHz, 6 Mb, 800 MHz, P
    Core 2 Extreme X9000 - 2.8 GHz, 6 Mb, 800 MHz, P

Those are what would fit in the socket. Though I would stay away from anything greater than 2.6 GHZ or so, that laptop doesn't have that big of a cooling system.

Personally, I would go for a T7250 for the best performance/price ratio. You should be able to find those pretty cheap nowadays.

Dear Greg! Did I undestand you right that T5600 has a socket that differs from socket P? Thank you for your answer that Vostro 500 and Inspiron 1525 are the same. Their model numbers coincide (PP29L) and they look similar, but Inspiron additionally has a camera, HDMI, S-video and microphones. Is it possible to use BIOS and battery Inspiron for Vostro 500? In different places I found different capacity of 6-cell battery: 41Wh, 56 Wh, 85Wh. I don`t plan to install CPU with frequency more than 2 GHz. If I find T7250 I wil use it.

You don't have HDMI or S-video? Hmm.

The webcam is optional on the 1525.

The 41Wh is the 4 cell battery, the 56Wh is the 6 cell battery and the 85Wh is the 9 cell battery (which sticks out from the back.

Only the processors in the list I posted will work. They NEED socket P.

Vostro A860 is no rebranded Inspiron, but a completely new design. Vostro 1310, 1510 and 1710 also don't have Inspiron siblings.
