I had the same problem on my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E430 which like the Dell Vostro 3360 and 3460 has and mSata drive. If your primary drive (hdd/ 2.5 ssd) has Ubuntu installed on it then you can add any number of OSes to grub by simply running this command. Open terminal and type sudo update-grub you will be prompted for your password enter it, then hit enter. Grub will search all drives on your computer for boot-able OSes and automatically add them. This particularly useful if you have replaced the DVD-ROM with a hard drive caddy.

I also like the Easybcd method. But I find update-grub to more effective especially if several versions of linux are present.

P.S. You can remove entries from grub the easy way by using Grub Customizer.

I'm sorry for digging out the old topic.
There is a new BIOS for Vostro 3360, has anyone tried it?
I'm not able to download it from dell's website :/
Does it allow to boot from msata ssd directly?

I tried the new BIOS A12 for the 3460 laptop, and it doesn't add mSATA boot support. It seems like it's mostly a Windows 8 compatibility update.

Any updates whether it is now possible to boot directly from mssd directly?

    i just tried the workaround
first i diabled intel rapid response in win7
then disabled all intel crap in bios here i discovered something new in bios a13, legacy boot has mSATA!
i next wipe all my drives (both HDD and SDD) making 2 clean partitions on my computer c(ssd) d(hdd)
next i run auto install of win 7 on SSD
presto with legacy boot set as mSATA im booting just fine
who knows somehow maybe my MBR carried over threw my wipes on my HDD and im using that its still alto faster and better than cache.... now i jjust got to deal with 32gb install drive but ive done that before in the early days of SSD

if any body could help me verify where my MBR is and if i need my HDD to boot that would be great! would love to help you guys with this as its very important to me too!

PS sorry any bad parts of the post i had a much longer and better post last night but it bugged out

My 3360 has no option for legacy boot msata after update to A13.

What intel crap should be disabled?
