    Hi all,

Im currently downgrading a Vostro 1700 from windows vista to xp. After following the guide found here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=150033. I have gotten the system up and running and the correct drivers installed, except for the wireless lan card and the modem speakers(which i have yet to fiddle with).

The problem i am having is with the Lan card. The machine has a internal dell wireless 1390 card install into the laptop. But when i try to install both the Vostro 1700 driver and the D630 wireless driver for the 1390 i get and error stating that the install application could not find the hardware, and it aborts the install. We currently have 6 other Vostro 1700s (all ordered at the same time) that have the 1390 driver installed and functioning properly. This computer also had the 1390 driver installed prior to the reload (we are creating a fresh copy of the OS to create a new Ghost image, the old image has corrupted software on it that we need to get ride of).

If anyone else has had this problem, or can think of a solution, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have the wireless 1505 card in my 1520. I don't remmeber seeing a specific driver for the 1390 card. Instead there is a whole drive package.

Try getting the whole driver package for the 1500 maybe ...
