today i went to the laptop and its displays it cant see the drives. there are two hard drives in it and neither can be seen. i have tried reseating them both but nothing. i cant believe both drives died so could it be the sata chipset has died? the machine can still see the optical drive fine.

it shouldnt be anything physical as the laptop is massive and hasent been moved in months. is there anything i can do, please help.

Have you tried a Linux live disc or physically removing them from your laptop and hooking them to another computer and see if they can be read?
