I just installed windows XP on my Vostro 1700, and installed the sigmatel drivers from the dell website, but the microphone is acting screwy. There's a massive amount of static when I try using it. I haven't tried any different software yet other than Ventrilo. The thing is, in Vent, it shows as input and output, Sigmatel Audio. In Vista, there was a Sigmatel microphone array, I think. Any ideas?
