vostro 1510

looking into possible buying the vostro 1510, is this a good laptop for small business, spreadsheet work, surfing, etc no gaming. how is dell support? if anyone can voice their oppinion I would appreciate, thx

I have the vostro 1510 and it is a FANTASTIC laptop

for spreadsheet work and surfing a beautiful machine, if you can pick one up with a WUXGA screen like i have, providing you dont have any eyesight problems, then once youve used this screen you will never be comfortable using any other screen! especially if your going to be using it for 'business' use, you can have a spreadsheet open on one half of the screen and some other information or another spreadsheet on the other side!

despite what some people have said, the build quality of this machine i think is SUPERB. i am comparing it to an inspiron 1520 and inspiron 1720 which i think are absolutely ****e.

the only one or two issues you *may* have with it is the keyboard layout, some of the keys are in odd places if your used to using a normal desktop keyboard, but again, its something you will get used to. ive had mine one week tomorrow and im used to it now!

well i actually got mine through the dell outlet (and i reccomend you do the same) if i configure that spec up directly through the dell website it comes to about £790 (around 1600$) i paid £503 (around 1000$) and i still get a brand new computer with one helluva spec for the money

i ordered mine on the 30th of august (a saturday) and it was in my hands by the 8th of september (a monday) so basically exactly 6 working days from order placement to receiving!!

if you order from the outlet, it means you'll get it much sooner as the computer is already built and waiting to be despatched so they dont have to wait on any parts or such

 

I see you have a nvidia Geforce 8400M
I guess might have that little problem mentioned here
(Since nvidia has not disclosed which batches were affected it is possible that all cards are affected).

So i guess that (a possibly mobo-frying card) is issue #2.
Issue #3 might be to have to hear the fan all the time and have your battery eaten by that.
