I just got a Vostro 1510 as a warranty replacement for my Vostro 1400 (dreaded GPU issues)

Now I'm enjoying this new laptop, but the fan comes on every 30 seconds for like 2 seconds... AND it idles at 55C!

Isn't that a little high, especially for a larger notebook (15")?

My Vostro 1400 idled at 36C

Yes as it comes from Dell it varies from 52 to 55C before the fan kicks in, and starts the cycle over and over again. With RMclock and I8kfanGUI I have gone from the normal 52-55c to 38-42c with the fan forced to the slow setting.

thanks, i did some digging on google and found another user who had the same results.

I'm gonna be looking at RMClock and fan speeds to see what I can get.

Interestingly though, an ORTHOS test only runs the proc up to 62c - and it stays there!

It appears the system runs warm, but it doesn't get overtly hot, which is nice.

its too high, u better return that computer,
    55c is a heavy load temp for a 15".
    idle shall be under 40c.

Well, considering how the heatsink is almost exactly liket he m1330, the temps don't surprise me.

I'll take my risks, as this laptop is MUCH better than my vostro 1400.
