Vostro 1510- Add fingerprint reader after?

    Hi all
    I was wondering if it would be at all possible to add the fingerprint reader after purchasing the laptop?

    I have the laptop in my sig and it doesnt have the fingerprint reader, and i now have a need for it

    I have managed to find the following on ebay:

    its a front faceplate, but it appears to have the fingerprint reader attached to it also.

    Is it likely that this will be a straightforward plug in? or is the motherboard different for the models that have the reader from factory?

    any information on this is greatly appreciated.

    The motherboard is almost certainly the same on machines with a fingerprint reader and on machines without a fingerprint reader. I think these things usually use a USB interface, so there's no reason to change anything on the boards. This upgrade should just be a matter of plug and play.

    yes just make sure that when you get the new palm rest with finger print you also get the cable to connect it to the mptherboard
