Any mobile chip that is socket 478 "P" will work for the Vostro 1500 santa rosa chipset.

According to the specs I checked out, the P9300-P9600 has a 1066MHz FSB. The Vostro 1500 with the santa rosa chipset only supports a 800MHz FSB.

I don't thik it would work on your Vostro 1500.

So I guess my reply should have been, any socket P chip that supports a 800MHz FSB would work for you.

I think that's your upgrade path.
