I have a Vostro 1500 that is a little over 2 years old. Last night I upgraded from XP to Windows 7. I am working on my laptop right now, and it says 3:15 left at 76%... On XP all I ever got at 100% was 3:15.

This cant be true gains just from an OS can it? Some kind of display difference?

    Hi jcmeyer5

Windows 7 does have a lot more optimizations for conserving battery power; after all XP is around 8 years old now, so things should have moved on.

That said, battery life indicators aren't always 100% accurate, since it depends on how you use your computer, but I think you can expect to get a bit better battery life after upgrading.

    Enjoy!

Cool. I wish that the undervolting software would work on the 64-bit (wont let me install an unsigned driver... maybe there is a way to turn that off)... I was getting .925v on my T7100 before I went to Windows 7 HP 64 bit.

I will say... Windows 7 installed very nicely... no issues. I do have one unidentified device in device manager, but it isnt something I have missed so far. I will figure it out eventually.
