    Hello

    Got my 1500 at the backend of last year and although I had issues with the screen i eventually got a perfect LG and everything was fine.

    However, I have now got a problem with the left speaker. When playing music or watching a film at anything above half volume i get random high pitched vibrations coming from it.

    This is quite annoying and I am considering contacting Dell to replace it. I am pretty sure it is not a settings issue. Just wondered if anyone else had had this issue and how/if they resolved it.

    I have a collect and return warranty but I don't really want to be without the machine for how ever long it may take to fix. What are the chances of getting Dell to send an engineer out, of just sending me the part??

    Any advice welcome.

    I don't have this problem, but I have the laptop for over a week only. If you don't want to spend to much time without your laptop you might try and find the P/N of that speaker and then search eBay. Maybe it's cheap.

    What kind of warranty decides whether or not a tech will come to your house.

    Mine does it a little...but i don't rely on cheap laptop speakers for music listening. Thats what real speakers are for!

    Totally agree, but sometimes I do watch the odd thing of listen to music away from any external speaker and it is very irritating to be honest.

    I assume the basic warranty is collect and return whereas the 3 year warranty provides support at your home. I may be wrong on this though.

    Are you sure you're not just playing sounds too loudly? To be honest I'm not sure what you mean by vibrating speakers. Does it vibrate physically, or does the sounds sort of vibrate, like distorted or something? Sorry I'm an idiot. xD;

    No, certainly not too loud. It does not effect the other speaker at all. The sound will vibrate with any high pitched sound like a high note in a song etc.

    So it only affects the left one? Sort of reminds me of my really really old desktop speakers, one of the speakers would actually die when playing a certain tune. You could check if something got stuck in there or maybe even clean it up. Or maybe it is time to give Dell a call.

    Sorry can't be much of a help here :eek:

    I had this problem on my Vostro 1500. I wasn't sure what to do... and then it got stolen from me in Seattle, I bought a pimped out inspiron with the insurance money but am disappointed with the performance of the inspiron 1720, as the T8300/8600GT combo seems slower than the T5270/8400GS combo which is odd (Though I used to be on XP and now I'm on Vista, Vista is worse than I expected).
