i ran a load test on my vostro 1500 and came up with these temps at 100% load on the cpu.

    cpu 1 was 44c
    cpu 2 was 47c
    gpu was 36c

    are these good numbers?

i think the program i was useing was reading the temps wrong. currently i ran cpuid hardware monitor.

    min temps:
    core #0: 39c
    core #1: 38c
    gpu (nvida 8400): 51c

i ran a load test for 10 mins ussing heavy load v2.4 and my max temps was:

    core #0: 63c
    core #1: 65c
    gpu (nvida 8400): 59c

are these good temps? i'm getting a motherboard replacement today because my board quit ready the ram on slot b. i want to make sure i don't have a heating issue and ruin the new board.

I assume you're not loading the GPU as well? Those are pretty normal load temps for Santa Rosa processors. I doubt you have a heating issue.

    update:

just installed the new motherboard, heatsink, and new fan. i have some TG-1 thermal grease, but didn't use it yet. went with the pad and grease that came on the new heatsink. i ran the same test using the same monitor and got these numbers:

    core #0 40c min and 74c max
    core #1 40c min and 74c max
gpu 47c min and 54c max

OK my gpu temp is a little down but my cpu went up. i had the TG-1 paste on it before. I'm running a T7500 2.20GHz processor.

should i leave it be or go back with the TG-1 paste? also i thought the fan has two speeds but i never noticed it speed up. only one speed. is the a way to test it or check it with on-board diagnostics?

thanks, i've been giving everyone a positive rep for helping me on this.
