I have a Vostro 1500 that had Windows Vista Home Basic installed.
I got a new hard drive and installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on the laptop and installed all the drivers off the dell site.
When I started installing the driver some of them would not reboot the computer and I had to hold down the power button to turn it off and back on. After all the drivers got install I cannot now reboot the computer.

I tried to search on this 'vostro cannot reboot' but did not find anything. Anyone have an idea on why I cannot reboot?

    thx

I thought it was just reboot not working but shut down is not working either.
When I try to shut down or reboot the windows explorer shell does away and the mouse is on a blank screen. It just sits there and will not shut down or reboot. Guess I need to reinstall window again. Grrrrr.

Now it make sense :) If u can shut down that means u can just turn it back again which is like rebooting. Anyway what drivers were u installing?
